It's Saturday morning. The tall grass needs mowed.

The garden needs weeding. The drain's overflowed.

The garage is a clutter. The car needs repair.

All need his attention, but he doesn't care.

The roof has a leak and new shingles are waiting

His long list of "to-do's" are accumulating.

What's so important to warrant delay?

Does he think if ignored, they will just go away?

How can this man with so much on his plate

Find good cause and reason to procrastinate?

It's because he's a man who is certainly wise.

A giant of a man in his dear family's eyes.

A man who knows well his priorities,

And chooses the moments important to seize.

So where is this man with so much to be done?

He's in the backyard playing catch with his son.

Oh wow I love this. That was my dad. He died 18 months ago at age 95. I miss him every day. What I wouldn’t give to here him say one more time “Get the mitts. We’re gonna work on that curve ball”.

Love you Dad.

I can't think of how this ties in with Father's Day ... except to say that the world should have millions of still-alive fathers celebrating this day ...

Regarding the Great Kennedy vs. Hotez Debate that won't happen ... If you are scared Dr. Hotez (and you are), say you're scared.

Thanks for this. In one of my Dad's last good years, during a ride to town, we saw a father/son playing catch, which prompted my Dad to say "ah, the Republic is still safe."

Aww, this makes me wish I could talk to my father without him accusing me of being “the enemy” (https://margaretannaalice.substack.com/p/letter-to-an-agree-to-disagree-relative-afc#details) and a crazy-conspiracy-theorist-anti-vaxxer-extremist who is killing people by discouraging them from getting vaxxed 😆

Happy Father’s Day to you, el gato, as well as to all of the wonderful fathers who are part of this cherished community.

not alone. My daddy is 99 and starting hospice care. He has cardiac troubles now, his heart is getting weak, his body is tired. We don't argue about things. I have been caring for him for 10 years, along with mom too until 2016.

I swear the spike shots, plus the horrid fires in Canada trashing the air in Virginia pushed him to the limit.

Every day is a gift. we do not argue. He is an old democrat

try to remember the good things.

My parents knew I was conservative, and they were conservative democrats.

The media encourages party loyalty and honestly, both parties are terrible now.

Either case, we do not discuss politics in our family. Hubbs and I have decided that when politics are discussed not matter what, we just shut down and focus on the good thing we are together. We do not respond to negative statements either.

It takes time and practice but soon you get very good at it.

I have one of those, too. He is the king of getting boosters and believes all of it. He was hospitalized with it and given remdesivir but not a ventilator. It took him quite a while but he's better. He calls me an anti-vaxxer in a very superior way. I don't call often as neither of us has anything to say, but my sister, brother, and stepsisters spend lots of time him and some of them are there now. I'm going to call him later. I'm going to go and read your post now!

I’m sorry to hear that, Yuma’s Freezing. It is amazing that he survived boosters *and* remdesivir (and still believes the lies!), so he must be a stubborn fellow!

I hope your conversation with him goes smoothly and you find some common ground. I am writing my father an email now as there is too much to catch up on via phone (and it’s usually difficult for me to get a word in edgewise), but I’m hoping to work up to calling him in the evening. We’ll see how it goes.

Regarding my post, the one where I shared the story about him calling me “the enemy” is in a paid post. If you’re not a subscriber, you can read the original post about my Thanksgiving phone call with him:

There are personality types who cannot possibly face, much less admit the fact that they have made a massive mistake, made worse if they have allowed the unthinkable injustice of willingly having their children injected with the poison.

I have a sister like that and she nearly died from it. I just don't talk to her about it. I did have a very close friend who was vaxxed and boostered up the wazu who got very sick from COVID. I suggested to her that the jabs were why she was so sick and she actually listened to me... it was amazing!

My father passed away when I was 12. There were a couple of stepdads along the way but not of high character. But my besties were three sisters who lived a block away where I spent most of my childhood, and their dad was just the best dad a child could ask for. Looked out for me as he did his own. So I adopted him! Happy Father’s Day Woody!

Thanks! I have kept my mouth shut because I am afraid to tell him the deathshot killed my stepmom or at least caused her final, major stroke. Dad still believes that they couldn't put her in a room right away because they told him it was "because the unvaccinated are taking up all the beds." They did get to say goodbye so I'm grateful for that. He will be 90 next week so I'm cutting him some slack! Thanks for letting me vent! I hope your call and email both go well! You've told him the truth and that's what matters. Thanks for letting me vent! Beeeeg hugs to you!

My stepfather was my Dad. Reagan Republican who would open his wallet and his home to anyone in need, no matter race, religion, sexual preference, gender—the whole affirmative action gamut. "You help people, then you teach them how to help themselves, and they’ll be able to help others." He lived by that.

I miss you Daddy!❤️

Main reason we as a society are dealing with the fallout. No dad/daddy/father in the home is devastating; contrary to what the feminazis touted (men are not necessary or particularly wanted).
