more adventures in "saying the quiet part out loud"
below is a video that should help you understand the shape of the current fight for freedom in the sciences and in information.
as is my habit, i’d like to allow these folks to make their own statements in their own words.
to this end, please meet the united nations’ global communications rep, melissa fleming seen here speaking at a WEF conference on “disinformation.”
based on her comments, i fear this is more of a “how to” class than a safety seminar, but that’s just one gato’s opinion. please generate your own.
i know a number of you seemed sure you could always spot parody, but let me ask you an honest question:
had i posted a quote from an unknown speaker that stated:
“we own the science and we think that the world should know it…”
how many of you would have presumed that it MUST be over the top pastiche and that no one would possibly mistake for a sincere position on a topic?
because this is no joke. those are her precise words. please give her a listen. it’s amazing how much quiet part you can say out loud in 42 seconds.
this is a braggy call to activism. she, at a forum on disinformation, is outright boasting of having created a partnership with google to slant search responses. why? because “we were shocked at the search results.” there was a debate going on and they were losing.
time for a great big thumb on the old scaleroony.
“scary poppins” would be proud.
she sees this as the way forward.
“we own the science and we think that the world should know it and the platforms themselves also do but again it’s a huge challenge that all sectors of society need to be very active in.”
if this is not a call for watermelon style dictatorial/eco-socialist totalitarianism, i’d love to know what would convince you. this is an issue that touches near every part of economies and lives. and these people are so enraptured with their own woo-woo and so certain of the rightness of their rule that they are not even trying to hide it anymore.
the science is settled. do what you’re told. these are the people the covidians learned from and mimicked. and they are FAR more dangerous.
this is what happens in late stage rule by rube. the grifters have given way to ideologues who mistook the story for reality. they fancy themselves the anointed. they style themselves as they who may not be questioned but must be obeyed. in reality, they are deeply deluded dogmatists who have no way to understand this about themselves. they do not allow debate because that would lead to having to defend ideas they can neither comprehend nor contextualize.
once you are out on the lysenko style limbs of mistaking diktat for scientific method, there is no real way back in for those who would seek to remain in power.
you must carve out a place as suzerain of science. there is really no choice and there is a reason that so many wind up bellowing things like “an attack on me is an attack on the science!” right before they get hauled off.
once treed, they do not seek to convince, they seek to lie and to compel and they prey upon a voter base whose demands and ignorance of trades offs have become so complete that only a liar may satisfy them.
and it’s all coming out in the open now.
and that is why they are going to lose.
there is one simple and abiding truth here:
the side of censorship is never the side of science.

I'll say again--the ascendancy of the "neurodivergent" to overlordsy is what happens when you're so inclusive that you can't recognize sociopathy and its lesser sub-categories that you've lost the tools to stop them.
These people can't be shamed because they have no ability to perceive it. What they *do* have is the ability to conceal it for a time, because they do understand the value of camouflage. But they always lose their grip on themselves sooner or later.
Every societal problem we have right now leads back to this. They are the useful foot soldiers of the non-neurodivergent garden-variety evil sort; they are the cover and the advance march. They have the gift of genuine sincerity of what they say and that disarms normal people who hear voice tones and don't listen hard enough to the words.
