I try to read this at least twice a year. Always timely...When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

OMG, how did they know about my weird uncle?! He is a self-taught chemist hippie who blew off a couple of fingers in one of his experiments, which landed him in jail for several months because they claimed he was manufacturing a bomb. He maybe was kind of sorta doing other illegal things with his chemistry skills, but that wasn’t one of them.

He did make spectacular fireworks, though. I remember one multi-stage volcano that kept erupting in one ecstatic burst of sparkles after another. This was appropriate because he used to bring me alien-looking flowers that he claimed came from Volcanoland. I finally asked him a few months ago where he got those flowers, and he said he shaped them from ordinary flowers, don’t ask me how.

I have said for a very long time that the Declaration of Independence should be read at the beginning of each Congressional session as a reminder. Shoot, they should be given pop quizzes throughout the year.

Give our veterans an entire month of dedication, give our mothers and fathers an entire month of reverence, and give Christian’s an entire month of respect for their faith (Easter is a single weekend, and Christmas isn’t about our faith anymore but was hijacked and replaced by greedy commerce, snowmen, and Santa’s,) and then MAYBE I’ll be less pissed about a pride month. Maybe, but I doubt it because they prematurely and selfishly grabbed it to force down everyone’s throats without careful and reasonable contemplation of the fairness to those of us with different lifestyles they have tried to suppress in schools and in government. There is no logic or fairness to their “month”.

Truthfully NOTHING needs an entire month except Independence Day!! That’s the only thing we all share in common and grants us freedom to be who we are. That’s worth a month long celebration.

This morning, July 4, 2024, along with over 1,000,000 other locals in the DMV, I received both a Don’t Drink the Water because “Turbidity” and an Air Quality ORANGE Alert because “pollution” from the Powers That Be. Is this Fear Porn? If the 6 million people in the DC/MD/VA/WV region can’t breathe or drink water…..isn’t that a National Security issue? Or Perhaps a “General Welfare” issue?
