The downward spiral of Dumbness in America is about to hit a new low.

Wanna watch dumb heads explode? Trump issues EO directing every single federal agency close their Facebook accounts. And BlueSky, if they have them. Direct them to maintain Twitter and...Truth Social accounts instead. Even Substack?

What law demands the federal government use Facebook for its communications? What congressional or judicial oversight could countermand his orders? Who first decided to open a Facebook account (or Blue Sky) at any agency? Etched in stone, forevermore?

About that Section 230 protection? If lefties oppose, sue to keep federal agencies on Facebook, claiming they are the public square, providing a public service then don't they step on their "private business making private decisions to censor" arguments?

It would be glorious! Especially the Truth Social directive to agencies! Sure, his opponents will howl that would benefit his personal business. But that's in a blind trust now. Just like Pocahontas and every other policymaker who claim their trades are made in blind trusts, they don't control them...right before they buy/sell on insider trading they know government is about to change the market valuation...allowing them to become multimillionaires on a few hundred thousand salary. Sure, the Truth Social federal agency directive would be challenged, just like government officials who stayed in his hotels. But so what? They cry and complain about everything. And holding up the mirror to their hypocrisy on full exhibit allows Trump to win that PR battle.

Yes, Trump could/should middle finger Zuck by closing official pages on FB. The battle that ensues would be comedic gold glorious! He has the power, not a flight of fancy.

Thing is, Zuck told Trump and the world he'd end censorship, do Twitter model. Not that I support Musk's "freedom of speech, not freedom of reach" model, but it's better than Twitter was or FB is. Zuck hasn't followed through. Trump just needs to say he won't support social media that censors, FB is still censoring, he's going to take away official federal support from platforms that censor. That's it. The justification for the EO right there. Easy-peasy. Heads: EXPLODE!!! I'm in love with the idea! LOVE! C'mon Trump, Baby! Do it!

No doubt. My wife and me had a FB account for our neighborhood when we were still in CA before moving to Florida.

I will add, I find it sort of funny that the same people (all lefties) who have been whining and crying every single day on FB that their account is being censored, shadow-banned, etc. have been doing that for at least TEN years. They stay and whine. It's just silly. That's why I left.

We're all just like the 1930s Germans. The pandemic showed me who my friends are and who are just fresh meat for the fear mongers. The tribe is all and facts matter very little to scared animals.

Expand full comment

Well, unlike "the Germans" that everybody, seemingly, loves to point to/blame, those people (most of whom lived in the country) might have had a radio -- if they were lucky. Or a newspaper. And they were still recovering from a war that devastated their population and economy. How many knew in real time what was happening?

Compare that to today in the country whose people love to laud themselves as free and brave and oh-so exceptional. These people have in the palm of their hand the ability to communicate instantly, research instantly, compare data/info instantly...And what did they do?

I'd say the "American" people are far worse, far more to blame than "the Germans" for enabling the greatest crime in history. They could have stood as an example to the world of what it means to be free...and brave...and maybe just a little bit 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍. Instead?

Expand full comment

Whoa! Hold on here. This may be the greatest financial crime in history but the comparison with the German populace in the early to mid 1930s is a bit over the top. At that time the Germans did nothing to stop their government in the treatment of the Jews and other minorities even when it was done in public. In fact they cheered it on. The “crime “ here is that too many people who were busy doing other things trusted their government and elected the pretty shiny politicians. These people are slowly waking up and once awake will act like scorned lovers. That will be the day when the corrupt leftist movement finally dies. Give it some time. DOGE is merely the auditor. The sheriff just got confirmed.

Expand full comment

That might have been different if the vaxx and masks actually worked. Although the pandemic was, for all intents and purposes, over because of herd immunity prior to the pressure campaign to get those needles in our arms.

Pretty sure they'd have rounded us up in camps.

What happened in the US happened faster than what happened in Nazi Germany.

Expand full comment

Exactly right. It’s not that people knew and ignored it; they didn’t know. Sure there were voices out there, but they were very few, and if you didn’t happen to run across any of them, you didn’t even have the opportunity to dismiss them as crazy. I grew up in the fifties and early sixties learning about our government and its three separate branches. I didn’t know there was an administrative state ostensibly in the executive branch but operating independently of presidential control. And then you get busy—college, jobs, marriage, children. Church if you’re a Christian. And you have no idea that the media have been captured and everyone is telling lies. You may be ignorant, but you’re not stupid. One day something gets through, and then the whole thing starts to unravel.

So we need to be patient and not criticize those slowly waking up to the truth for being somehow to blame. The only ones to blame are those who, with eyes tight shut and hands over ears, refuse to learn the truth.

Somehow, I doubt Elon Musk and DOGE, even if he wanted to, will be allowed to audit private capitalist corporations that made off like robber barons from co-operating with the DNC and the Obama/Biden White House, even if it would come out that their business dealings were just as corrupt as USAID.

Or how about going further back to '08? How about a fully transparent public audit of how the American taxpayer was forced to save the banks and the profits of capitalists in the banking, mortgage and housing sector?

Somehow, I doubt that's ever going to be thing.

I doubt Elon would want to go there for fear it would open his companies up to the same treatment when the party in power flips.

Expand full comment

I agree - but even getting the question asked, in public and on record, would be a good test of character for him and DOGE.

I'll have to assume the reason the American press and DNC-affiliated pundits aren't lobbying those kinds of question at him is because they know that no matter any potential dirt from Musk's various wheelings and dealings (when he was Obama's darling chum f.e.), their own side is at least thrice as dirty.

Also, can we just start to change OUR MINDSETS now? Why are we all in victim mode and fear mode? This is not who we are supposed to be as God's children. And even if you don't believe in God, this is not who humans are designed to be (IMHO). We are not sheep. We should be self-determined. We should be good, and follow the Golden Rule. That in itself is powerful! To be truthful, not to STEAL, CHEAT and LIE. Those things are what the weak do. If we are morally strong, then we say "no" to the cheaters and liars, and murderers, and we refuse to give them OUR money. Let's do that.

Edited to add, just after I posted this I got an email from Tucker Carlson that opened: "Citizens are free to say what they think. Subjects aren’t."

That's it in a nutshell.

I wish it was, because it's definitely how I feel. The problem with the worship is that it's dangerous. Makes you wonder if Trump's offhanded comment in 2016 about shooting someone on 5th Avenue and still having support was actually accurate.

What's really maddening is the purists who can't get their minds around the idea that it's possible to like a lot of what's happening and still be leery of Musk and the other technocrats that Trump has surrounded himself with. These are the people who think Musk loves free speech because he bought Twitter, as opposed to thinking (as I do) that Musk is an opportunist who bought Twitter to take advantage of OUR love of free speech.

A: The nazis who wanted a one world government were brought to the US and look at us now.

B: Those trials did not stop the evil side of human nature that, when combined with the Nazi influenced Americans, resulted in our current condition..

Other than that, I am in agreement. The ramifications of such an event is one generation only, imo.

Dear reader, you know better thanks to our goodly author, but look around: your spouse, your neighbor, your friends, likely your children, are they not the very the dingbats described here in. What does that protend? Dare you speak of this phenomenon: will you tell them? Are you prepared to be disowned?

The narrative battle space is phosphorescent with energy right now. We’ve been holding our tongues for a long time. Has that time come to an end? Dare you?

Should we confront our loved ones? If not now when? If not you who?

OK, it’s my question so I’m going to expound on it and declare victory: Jennifer is correct. Jennifer’s version is all we have.

You see my question was a provocation - like yelling fire in a crowded theatre. The provocation : I was forcing you to face the fact that your circle of friends and loved ones are idiots. Lol!

The truth is your loved ones are not able to comprehend, if they were able they would not be the way they are and most importantly you can’t change that fact by argument, as Jennifer said. The second truth is that you have to live with that because that is what we are: humans are overclocked chimps. Humans are capable of knowledge if we fall in with the right people, like this author lucky for us, he is well calibrated in his judgement and very adroit in his communication. Other people fall in with the wrong crowd because they are stupid and you being smart and making a smart argument, will not change that.

Your loved ones will figure it out or not. You have zero chance of changing that and a high probability that you will create a war: “lest we forget “.

I must add the point of remembrance Day - lest we forget - is to remember how we got ourselves into war in the first place, so as to avoid killing another young generation.
