I’m disappointed nobody has ever asked my pronouns. I really wanted to see what the reaction would be when someone said “hey what’s your pronoun?” And I reply “Bitch”. But sadly, nobody has ever asked. Maybe it’s just obvious.

Some of this stuff is written into law for California based companies. I recently took a sexual harassment training course for my CA based company that included the requirement that I use co-worker's "preferred pronouns" and not "dead name them".

I won't. I won't be speaking to the gender wierdos. If forced, I will use their last name exclusively. If I get canned, I'll pursue any legal options available. "Yet for some reason businesses remain and fools are still trying to start new ones. Call it the California Conundrum."

A conundrum it is, but it may be helpful to employ the traditional moniker, the "California Casino."

The casino conundrum is fueled by three factors; ever-churning demographics, Hollywood's "short attention span theater" and regulatory capture.

It's a potent mix with a heady aroma, this Collodial "Pleasure Island" whose allure goes beyond the mild climate and offers riches beyond the dreams of men. California is the nation's boundary with the pacific rim, gateway to the mysterious East.

It is a mesmeric place for those seeking mysterious knowledge, and a haven for the grifters who prey upon them.

One would think that the very idea of risking all on the tyrannical whims of a lockdown state would be anathema. Who would gamble against a corrupt government that arrogates to itself the power of arbitrary penury?

Fewer each day, it would seem. And yet, Barnum's Law has yet to be repealed.

Expand full comment

As a well known radio personality describes it, California is like an aging hot chick in her forties. She has coasted on her looks for years, but now she is starting to show her age, and when people start listening to her they are no longer mesmerized by her beauty and and starting to think "This chick is nuts."

Great synopsis. California has always been a balancing act between economic opportunity and freakdom. Traditionally there has been more than enough of the former to enable an economy, infrastructure, government, and general prosperity to support the latter who choose to live on the fringe. And let's be honest here, live off the fruits of the labors of others.

Today, that script has completely inverted. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum and the productive members are being demoralized and driven away. If not for the cash cows of Silly Con valley and, to a lesser degree, Hollywood, the state would simply implode. And both of those cows may start running dry at any time.

I have promised myself I will sue for religious discrimination if I get fired for it.

Your impulse towards truth is a good impulse. This whole BS about "living your truth" hasn't gone anywhere good. I can tell you as a fat person, I am not a fan of the "body positivity" movement. You can talk to my amputated leg about body positivity. I'm sorry but "big is not beautiful." But beautiful people can and are big. There is a difference.

We all have our bugaboos in life to endure. Whether it is diabetes, substance abuse, bad body image or dysmorphia. News to kids...there is a lot of uncertainty growing up. Remember, if you are a boy teeming with hormonal induced puberty and the wind blows, you get an erection. I had a ton of questions about sexuality etc. I also had my "stash" of images that I kept in a drawer in the bathroom. I wonder what my mom had thought of the magazine images I had torn out of a variety of her magazines like that Jane Seymour East of Eden advertisement out of People magazine...All I know is, one day the magazine pages were missing, and I had to start all over again. My mother and I had never spoke of it even up to her death.

That's good that you haven't had any pushback. I would have felt disingenuous as well. The way I probably would have handled it is to demand the trans kids also call me by my preferred pronouns, and I would make it so gratuitous and ridiculous that they would refuse to call me that. Maybe something like "My pronoun is, he who calls people by a pronoun opposite of what they actually are."

Minor quibble: there's no such a thing as ex-KGB, or KGB-defector.

Bezmenov's statements must be read as (and simulataneously so) both him informing about some methods employed for culture war and destabilisation, and him using his own words as a technique for sowing dissent in the first place, at the same time.

Doublethink is a russian invention after all.

The goal is chaos among any potential or prospective opponent to Russia (USSR then), it always has been since Peter the Great, so his words must be seen as both the weapon and the warning as it were.

Unfortunately the problem is much deeper than simple 'woke' HR policies. You have an entire generation that has been very poorly educated in mathematics, political & cultural history, basic economics (although the profession is now a joke) because their heads have instead been filled with woke revisionist garbage. In a democratic society people are going to opt for policies that have been tried historically and are failures, but sound appealing on the surface.

They even admit - nay, proudly proclaim - that they want to fill the heads of children with their ideology. Here is a quote from one of them in an article about a webinar they held "on race, science and the church" that "explores cures for health care inequities and our biases."

The Rev. Drew Rick-Miller said that we should “think intentionally about how we raise our children to see if there are ways to reduce the formation of bias in our kids and in subsequent generations. We can manage the media they consume.”

In Canuckistan, for years, businesses have not mentioned the word “Christmas” in their Christmas ads. Two exceptions have been Home Hardware and Canadian Tire. Oh, we hear jingly bells and see decorated trees in other ads, but Christmas is always tediously and infuriatingly referred to as the “holidays” - you know, those nameless “holidays” that fill their coffers and put them in the black.

We were delighted last week to watch a tv ad for Toffifee (Toffifay in the US), and it was filled with references to Christmas. I wrote them, thanked them, and now will ensure I purchase Toffifee for everyone. Please, now, that other companies will come clean and truthfully acknowledge the Christmas season. After all, our PM breathlessly reminds us daily we are - ah - a diverse - ah -country. Might we hope to assume Christians are included in that diverse diversity of diversities?

Ah yes, Trudeau who believes in diversity of truth. As in “I did not call the unvaxxed names” truth. I guess Misogynist and Racist aren’t names.

I remember in 2015 people talking about the pendulum and how it swings both ways and it's showing signs of swinging back to sanity. That was in 2015. Things have only gotten so much worse since then. So I don't think this moment in history is coming to an end any time soon unfortunately.

There's a very interesting book called "Pendulum" (go figure) that discusses this. The main idea is that society swings back and forth between extremes of individualism and collectivism. Unfortunately, 2023 is the extreme of collectivism.

Sadly, 2023 is not the extreme of collectivism. It really can get so much worse. This usually ends when millions have been imprisoned and or died of starvation.

Yes. We may get a bit of a pull back here, but it's most likely to be a mere blip on the slope to hell.

yup. time to build an underground something in the quieter moments, but i feel the same exact inevitability of something hella worse because here in the wet spot of mordor (sf, ca) they're relishing theirs and everyone's collective misery as an excuse for everything and no matter how crappy everything's getting here, they're just not snapping out of it.

When it gets back to the middle of the arc, we need to destroy the swinging mechanism...

Ha! At least according to that theory, human nature won't allow it.

yeah, i have to agree, sadly.

The New Left spent 50 yrs on their long march through the institutions and have at last seized the means of cultural production. They own the brains of any educated urbanite under say age 30 and have managed to put one of their commissars in just about every educational and cultural institution throughout the Anglosphere.

They aint goin away anytime soon.
