Necessary course corrections are never pretty, but here we are.

As with any cult, they either are disbanded externally or implode internally, Jim Jones-fashion and I think we'll be seeing a *lot* of micro-level, personal Jonestowns *very* soon. Our job is to limit the damage they cause, clean up the mess and build something better.

I agree. But I also say burn and salt the fields.

However i don't think the world is ending; just the illusion.

To me helping people understand that is part of the "clean up".

We might be able to help some, but how can we help if we cannot speak their language?

Expand full comment

See i think the first step is we must not allow them to change language or nuance. A common "language" is crucial key to sharing time-experience with others.

Force them to confront reality. If they won't its just opportunity cost for us. Memes are a way to do this; that's why they throw tantrums and get upset because reality clashes with their worldview.

But, indeed many are lost...just like the people who keep taking the vaxx. There's no going back because reality is kryptonite to their worldview; they'd have to face up to sunk costs and the fact that they are not morally superior.

Who would want to confront that?

I remember Michael Savage's line "Borders...language...culture." And here we are. If I leave my house and interface with others, besides those who speak English but will not hear, inevitably I hear foreign tongues everywhere. I have no idea what they are saying and they have plenty of company, which negates the need to learn English. These are the ones I think about. Will we be able to use the universal language of a smile, and open our arms, inviting them into our homes?

Real Rule of Law, official English, and the need to find work are great integrators. This is how our immigrant ancestors became Americans. If you couldn't speak English, you had a hard time finding work, or communicating with coworkers, and without work you were doomed to poverty. Strong motivator.

What's even more insidious is changing definitions in the still of the night like with vaccine and herd immunity.

How many people know the definitions were changed...maybe 5%.

This is a way to quietly change/eliminate history by removing sign post on the map of reality.

DonтАЩt forget about the definition of pandemic!

oh my....how could I forget. dang it...silly me.

it is scary though, because history is being changed right in front of our eyes...and very few recognize it.

And with the media backing up this nonsensical behavior a person has to invest time and effort into digging into and finding out the facts. Many (most?) ppl don't like to get their hands dirty.

I was thinking about my grandparents, they were some of those immigrants. My mother (the first of the offspring to get a high school diploma) and her siblings could speak the native tongue. My grandparents spoke broken English, but could understand us. Things have changed. Back then,, they wanted to become Americans and had to learn the language. Nowadays, not so much.

They were likely proud of each bit of English they acquired, and insisted that their children speak only English. They worked hard to get where they were.

Exactly. They assimiliated. Those pouring in aren't doing that especially muslims.

Haha, I just made this same point!! Great minds.

"without work you were doomed to poverty"

That WAS indeed the case - three, or even two generations ago. Today, not so much. We have somehow severed the connection between self-reliance and work. And replaced it with dependency and welfare.

"our immigrant ancestors became Americans"

Too many of today's immigrants choose instead to become parasites, living off of Americans.

I would argue that welfare allows immigrants to concentrate in ethic slums and avoid most interactions with the rest of society. This is not just an American phenomenon, but can be seen in various French, Swedish, and British cities. They develop their own cash mini-economies using their welfare payments for the bulk of required external transactions. Without welfare these communities would not be able to support themselves.

Or each of them wants to be considered his/her own independent country with his/her own independent laws. But, of course, they still want all the goodies that Uncle Sam continues to give out.

Funny that in the early 1900s immigrant parents WANTED their children to 'speak English'. A hundred+ years later we are encouraging a Tower of Babel culture.

Never. Our country has been invaded by millions across our borders (or even in planes). They have been put here for a reason.

Think about Germany or Japan after WWII, or Russians after the fall of the USSR. People walking around with shocked, blank looks on their faces and nothing to say.

"Force them to confront reality."

Is that not the core problem? Many of these unfortunate souls are, sadly, unable to accept, or in many cases, even perceive reality. They live in a world devoid of humanity, able only to chant the mantras of their cult.

In our centuries of exposure to cults, we have certainly learned to de-program individuals - but how do we bring hundreds of millions back to sanity?

Expand full comment

Yeah for some.

I want to say to them:

"You might be in a cult if you don't recognize a situation where any sane person would recognize they'd be whistling past the graveyard if participating in similar behavior/activity; a situation where the cult members participation is strictly objective"

I submit that those not in the 'cool crowd' have catered to their demands & coddled their notions far too long. There are limits. And they need to be adhered to.

Only the TV can tell them what to think..

Expand full comment

Yes, absolutely. But I also think there may be many on the left that have this identical thought about us. After all, they see us as deranged fascists wanting to destroy democracy. Even though that is worthy of LOL, it's a good thought experiment.

I am certain that is the case but I haven't see any videos of conservatives/Republicans/Libertarians... destroying the other side's campaign signs or going out of their way to tell the other side how wrong they are - to wit - the lady who went up on the porch & rang the bell to excoriate the homeowner and cursing along with it.

Another example of this the of behavior - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nOu0WiuSIo

Here is the statement of the young man who was on the receiving end of her diatribe:

"Just had the craziest experience ever on an airplane:

IтАЩm boarding my flight from Baltimore to Seattle and approach my seat. I had an upgraded seat that I paid a little extra for because of the long 6 hour flight. As I approach my row I smile and motion to the husband and wife sitting in the aisle and middle seat that Imy seat was next to the window. I put my backpack in the overhead and the wife with a very stern voice says to me:

тАЬDid you come here to cheer or to protest?тАЭ

тАЬI came here to celebrate democracy maтАЩamтАЭ

тАж I knew this was going to be a long flight at this point. She then proceeded with: (somewhat paraphrased as my memory allows)

Her: тАЬYou put a crazed man in charge of the nuclear codes! You should be ashamed!тАЭ

Me: тАШWell weтАЩre all entitled to our opinions here maтАЩam.тАЭ

Her: тАЬAnd IтАЩm entitled to get drunk and puke in your lap! IтАЩm going to throw up right in your lap! You make me sick! DonтАЩt talk to me! DonтАЩt look at me! DonтАЩt you dare even put your arm on that rest. You disgust me! You should be ashamed of yourself! You put a maniacтАЩs finger on the buttonтАЭ (assuming sheтАЩs means nukes). You are a bigot. You should get off this plane!тАЭ

Me: тАЬmaтАЩam, by definition, bigotry is disparaging someone prior to knowing them simply by their beliefs and opinions. Thank you for being the very thing you preach against.тАЭ

She the proceeded with other various rantings such as my lack of critical thinking and other insults. Finally a flight attendant came over as you will see in the video followed by a supervisor informing that she would have to deboard the plane per captains orders.

After much fuss, airport police came and removed her from the plane. The lady across from me filmed that and was gracious to sent it to me. Many others around me defended me insisting the lady had caused all the commotion and was verbally assaulting not just me but others wearing various Trump apparel boarding the plane.

As the lady was removed I saw that I was surrounded by blacks, Latinos, Asians, and whites, all who had chimed in asking her to be removed and who had defended me. I was touched and moved knowing later that not all these people were trump supporters. The black man who took the seat next to me was a registered Democrat and he and I had a very good discussion about the beauty of free speech and coming together when people insult and commit acts of violence just for having differing views.

It truly was a great demonstration of AMERICA and its people coming together and standing up for one another. Hope you enjoy."

I don't think we have the resources or patience to "deprogram" members of this cult. I'm thinking that shock treatment in the form of "reality immersion" is the only option. Next we have impose rigorous standards, an "unforgiving meritocracy" so to speak, and the de-glorification of victimhood.
