Except that removing the label of "interval" makes the equation false. I do seem to recall my teachers making a big deal about labeling things that weren't plain numbers but needed the extra detail for clarity. I'd give these critical theory scholars a zero for incomplete work and send them back to remedial math since the clearly weren't paying attention.
