Sometimes the memes are so powerful the media is powerless before them.

That's the power of the truth.

The media can repeat 'sharp as a tack' until the sun comes down, but a meme of Biden wandering off and being 'rescued' at an international conference exposed the liars.

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

That was not a meme, it was live video tape…

It’s a meme when citizen journalists report the facts in an easy to read and sometimes amusing manner. It’s “opinion journalism” when the snobbish NYT lies to us. https://open.nytimes.com/how-we-redesigned-the-new-york-times-opinion-essay-ad5e0270f5bc

The whole Naked Emperor thing is astounding…. There is no satisfactory word to describe what the media pulled off…until of late. Biden was never fine.. his cerebral synapses started short circuiting decades ago. How it got to this point is testimony to an organized and willing media….to what avail? Trump is Hitler? Hardly…..I think they’ve gone too far and realize they’re in big shit trouble…..

CMCM's avatar

The media still thinks they can lay low and then lie their way out of it. And they also think we will continue to believe their lies.

"Biden is as bright as ever!"

Bandit's avatar

That is actually a true statement. He has always been as bright as a burned out light bulb.

St. Alia the Knife's avatar

This version of Biden is the Best Biden Ever!

"He runs circles around all of us."

Live-action meme! A new category genre of the meme, such a transcendent art form.

Yes, but he didn't explain _why_ memes are so powerful.

It's because memes tell the truth about the lies in the corporate media.

This is also why memes are funny. The tension between the lies we hear all day and the obvious truth comes out as laughter. That tension is the lifeblood of memes. If the media stopped lying, there would be no market for memes.

Fortunately, the media has no other function these days than to lie on behalf of corporations and government, so the market for memes will remain robust for the foreseeable future.

kertch's avatar

The tension between lies and truth is the basis for all good comedy.

patrick.net/memes's avatar

Yes, exactly that. Tension is the engine behind all humor.

What we have now is extreme tension between corporate/government lies and people who just want to survive even though Fauci, Gates, and Schwab are trying to murder them with "safe and effective" injections of foreign genetic material which cause their own bodies to kill off cardiac cells, among others.

It has never been more serious, or more humorous. They go together.

Julinthecrown's avatar

Also, tension between the 'elites' & 'WeThePeople'

patrick.net/memes's avatar

Yes, that could end very badly for the elites if they don't stop trying to murder us with mandated mRNA injections.

It's like they want to see just how far they can go until the people finally turn on them.

Julinthecrown's avatar

Their attitudes aren't going to win them any friends either.

And they had it sooooo easy.....all we wanted was to be LET THE FUCK ALONE!

Right.. but only until it’s not funny anymore…

Geez, Patrick. Of course he can't explain why.....potatoes don't have brains.

Didn't you learn ANYTHING in the room temp IQ American public school system??????

c Anderson's avatar

What? MLHVM, potatoes are much brighter than most Democrats. Patrick is a meme extraordinaire! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-FiMmE69oWM

Dale Flowers's avatar

Potatoes are supposed to have lots of eyes. This one only has 2, and they are close-set like there is some genetic defect owing to inbreeding. The bowler hat is OK. The ears are great...good for tagging him with the nickname "Wingnut". The spindly arm musculature is on par with a Lefty..."akimbo" is a nice touch. The periwinkle blue shoes are a nice touch too. But most troubling is the absence of a torso. It draws together where he eats and poops far too close. The meme is a fail because it had no NSFW warning. I ate a bad oyster once and 4 hours later...vibriosis. I got the same taste in my mouth looking at that meme as I got from that oyster. Har-r-rumph! :(

The way that memes are hitting the tic tock addicts is terrifying.

Julinthecrown's avatar

"Successful memes... are those that respond to a particular cultural need or that particularly resonate with contemporary circumstances. In other words, memes that capture the popular zeitgeist are those that are most successful because they are the ones that will capture our attention, inspire a sense of belonging and connectedness with the person who shared it with us, and encourage us to share with others the meme and the collective experience of viewing it and relating to it."

That's another way to put it, but too long and not blunt enough imho.

"Memes mock lies" would be shorter and more accurate.

Hello300's avatar

The best is Mark Dice in YouTube. I was happy when CNN rehired Brian because Mark’s impersonation always put me in a good mood.

Julinthecrown's avatar

Totally agree. While I never watch CNN when a YT clip has 'little Brian Stelter' in it I always hear it in Mark's high pitched whine. 🤣

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

Do you ever wonder if Brian Stelter’s family is fully aware of what a flaming asshole he is?

kathie hopler's avatar

yes i bet they hate his smug ass more than us lol

Anthony S Burkett's avatar

Brian Steter is a buffoon... and memes are an effective illustration of buffoonery... therein lies the power of memes.

"and the memes are pretty powerful sometimes". Unbelieveable. Thanks for the laugh, I had a long day.
