Institutional corruption has been around for a long time. Covid and the failed ensuing policies have finally exposed it.
It’s an abomination that so many lives and livelihoods were destroyed in the process.
My point is that we have always been the submissive, complicit and exceedingly grateful followers in that dance. We gave it to them. How wonderful it's been to shrug off all that heavy responsibility for ourselves and just let the smartest guys in town handle every aspect of it for us. It's why they get the big bucks! So that we can remain blissfully ignorant about multi-faceted hard stuff and just 'live our lives.' However, suggesting that we look in a mirror is next level scorn territory. But we don't get out of this until we do it. It's just going to be the game of let's identify the bad guys, over and over, until then.
Very true. So many people just don't open a book or a web page to check on things, they rely on others to do the work for them. Then you get this. Most people I know don't cook, don't clean their own houses, some cut their own grass... but don't grow one leaf of salad greens, only grass and flowers. Why not start taking care of ourselves folks ? Bake your own bread, grow some veggies, it will serve you well !
I was born 1956. We were partially raised by our paternal grandmother (dad divorced when I was a baby). She had chickens, a huge garden, cooked all our food from scratch, we’d do chores, collect eggs, pluck the chickens, go fishing, catch crawdads, etc. and oh yes, respected and listened to adults. In school I learned sewing, crochet, knitting, embroidery, cooking. And back then the boys had wood shop, metal shop, car repair. In other words, we learned skills and how to use our brains and hands. And I can’t help mentioning that we got all three types of measles and chicken pox. What happened?
The good old times. My mom unfortunately had a not very able mother and did not learn much of sorts. Dad is an avid gardener and now cooks too. What you mention are the necessary attributes to life. Make food and clothes and keep occupied.

Yes. Lack of occupation seems to be one of the causes for people to have the high level of baseline anxiety.
Wonderful !
Sharp post !
