The second-best result of election night was the people sending the mainstream media packing. Just think of the millions of manhours that were dedicated to keeping Trump out of the White House.....and they failed miserably.

Egm should buy CNN and call it Cat News Network. I’ll take MSNBC and rebrand it Meme News Network. We are the media now.

Musk could buy them and reformat to cartoons.

Resurrect Wile E. Coyote, Foghorn Leghorn, Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd et. al., solemnly reporting the news interjected with gag acts.

Now that's entertainment.

Expand full comment

Absolutely Brilliant idea. imagine Elmer fudd and foghorn. Leghorn. As the two main anchors, daffy and donald duck would be on the scene reporters. And Wiley e coyote and bugs bunny could debate the topics of the day. it would be far better than anything that's ever been produced by the mainstream media. I can just envision Daffy duck at the democratic national convention.Going absolutely batshit Crazy, and not being able to understand a damn thing. He's saying and then fog horn Leghorn Doing his thing, it would be comedy Gold. And the best part would be Bugs bunny doing what he do best.

Expand full comment

And then do our own version of SNL where it would be truly funny because we can tap all the untouched content out there just waiting for satire

Expand full comment

We could also play reruns of Monty Python since that all turned out to be real in the end...

Expand full comment

Seriously, with today's and tomorrow's AI technology, you wouldn't even need to hire any Hollywood staff to do the animation or voice overs. I suggest the classic cartoons interspersed with news breaks. The difficult part will be deciding who will be the anchors. I'm thinkng Sylvester and maybe Daffy Duck, but definitely Foghorn Leghorn for the Editorial Seat.

Sylvester! For sure...

How much better would it be than this?

Sure is. I think there should be a public accounting. Some of the entertainment hired for the rallies are afraid they won't be paid.

When these celebs claim they didn't get paid by the Harris campaign they are telling the truth. They haven't been paid YET.

YET. But you'd think if they reallyhad supported jher they'd have donated their time and 'talent'.

Don't forget, the first Trump administration saw legacy media reaping a windfall. It was in their cynical best interest to keep people panicked.

Expand full comment

Yep, but that won't work this time around.

Expand full comment

I tend to think that you are correct...but that does not mean that the survivors in the MSM re-shuffle won't give up on the Trump-hate theme. Too much at stake, and a lot of people, particularly in the public sector stand to suffer loss at the hands of a Trump government that literally owns all three branches of the federal government. I don't need to be Nostradamus to predict the fear and loathing in big pharma, big Ag and big defence contractor board rooms when RFK, Jr., Trump, or Elon Musk's names are mentioned. These are the entities that formerly "owned" the federal government ...and the MSM.

Expand full comment

Oh, they'll certainly try, no doubt about that.

But the people won't fall for it again, and increasingly the presstitutes will be seen for what they are.

Expand full comment

There will always be a demographic that falls for it, it fact is addicted to it, but that demographic is shrinking.

Expand full comment

Yep. The snowball is only rolling one direction.

Expand full comment

Hopefully it won't work so well, because the persuadable audience has been shrinking. Like an insurance pool. Pretty soon only the sickest will remain.

Well, I'll tell ya. I find the endless Bible-thumping on FOX ever so much more endurable than the harpy-shrieking on CNN and MSNBC, both of which I used to watch regularly until the Rittenhouse trial cured me. And I'll bet I'm not the only one of similar temperament who feels so.

Before Steve Bannon's War Room shows clips I would not have been able to pick out most of the people on CNN and MSLSD in a police line up except for Whoopi The Hut. I just did not watch TV much and didn't have one for several decades. Those were the days! CNN was something inflicted on us while waiting for a flight at an airport.

Expand full comment

There was a time, long long ago, when Keith Olbermann had not yet gone entirely insane, though the signs were there because Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid were his protegees but not yet seeming insane neither, and CNN had Crossfire and Evans, Novak et al which were really good shows.

That universe is dead, gone, sucked into a black hole and imploded into nothingness.

Expand full comment

Now I would not be surprised if Joyless Reid or Rachel Madcow burst a blood vessel in their brains on TV.

Expand full comment

Karma is a wonderful thing and I don't see advertisers all that eager to keep pouring their money into shrinking audience share. As bad as MSM/cable are, the laughingstock awards go to Reid and Maddow and new managements at the networks have no reason to be loyal to deranged anchors.

I agree, the struggle will continue through the next four years. This is the time for the populist-pro republic team to consolidate the power that comes with the control of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. This hard-won fight needn't be just a windfall, but a real chance to straighten out the festering, pulsing sore that now populates the District of Columbia.

I spent years being part of NPR and loved it.

These days I'm very disappointed in all MSM. All the honesty seems gone and is replaced the need for ratings gotten by table flipping antics.

Freedom of the press apparently includes freedom to self-destruct.

Expand full comment

I used to love NPR. Now I cannot hear it even for a minute without feeling nauseous revulsion at their smarmy Pfizer-pfellating propaganda.

Expand full comment

Naive question: Isn't NPR supposed to be publicly funded? Why would they run Pfizer commercials?

Expand full comment

NPR is very much like the NY Times in the last decade. Just a propaganda outlet for the CIA and the corporations behind the CIA.

locally, 20 years ago, they bought up the BEST FM band (connection) from Gannet, WGMS which was also classical. They tried to make it sound like it would continue to be the best listening but it was not and continues to be shitty. their on air announcers are snooty and condescending. and they are always begging for money, all day begging. I have two little cheapo radios (used to be daddy's) one in each kitty's room tuned to WETA radio as it is now called. Shitty thieves.

Same with WTOP which is now owned by the washington Compost - except their format is all day fake news and alarmism

Expand full comment

They have control of a wonderful station up here that plays Blues and Jazz- Blues and Jazz when NPR isn't cranking FT from 6 AM to 7PM. And running other PBS specialty shows in between. So about 10 hours of Blues and Jazz every week...

Why can't we just have Blues and Jazz? Or even just have NPR be only a few hours a day like I remember them being in the 90's? It seems that they have metastasized to crowd out more and more of what people originally went to those stations to listen to.

had to give my husband the lowdown on cat behavior. Never touch the rug if the cat under it. You can't scratch their belly like you do the dog, cats play favorites. Cats do get even with you, (I nearly fell down some stairs, cat dashed between my legs, she was purposeful and angry. My crime yelling at her stop that!) Also shredded the lining of a beautiful coast I had. miss them both.

Yup. I visited my sister and I slept on the bed her cat slept on. I shut the door on the cat. The cat peed in my suitcase when it got the chance. Then on my hat. Yeah. The belly thing. Dangerous trying it on a Maine Coon weighing 23 pounds the neighbor thought was an actual lion in the window. I miss that cat very much.
