If the woke call Latinos Latinx, what do they call the Chinese?

Expand full comment

What do you call a transgender gay?

GenX

Expand full comment

A regretful detransitioner ... when they realize they could have accepted and affirmed their own gayness all along, instead of mutilating themselves to become a straight seeming person of the opposite sex. And this rides in on LGB rights and "affirmation"? So wrong ... https://nypost.com/2022/07/11/trans-woman-returns-to-life-as-man-and-hits-out-at-the-activist-doctor-who-turned-his-life-upside-down/

Expand full comment

Queer Theory, as opposed to the LGB rights movement defines itself as an identity without an essence. As soon as you know who you are (straight, bi or gay), you've become part of the system. They don't want that; they always want your identity to be in flux so you're always at the margin of society. That's who these neo-marxists use to try and achieve their goal of overthrowing the "system".

Expand full comment

Unfortunately true. It was always and ever a conceit. As someone who has worked to respect, protect, and support marginalized groups so they could enjoy full rights and citizenships, NOW I have to fight against these dang wokesters who want to be permanently marginalized and defined as "undefined" so they can be cool and judge the hell out of everyone else. It is exasperating, but as El Gato says, their time is nigh and they will not only get obliterated in November elections but become a running joke for the rest of near-term history. Good riddance. How can you fight against real racism when you have these idiots calling everyone racist, sexist, or "transphobic" (not even a coherent word or concept)except, of course themselves.

My little theory is - I have secretly thought this for a while, Transgenderism and now transhumanism as well! Oh cool, now have the latest artificial intelligence implants. (Their brains will be then completely hacked). Off with the old and on with the new. Sterilisation, messed hormones and conformity.

No more traditional family. No more reading, writing, comprehension and arithmetic in school. Gender studies climate catastrophe etc instead. Many of these people, in my opinion, are pawns of the WEF and WHO. They have uniform accents and fashion. This is most uncool of me to think this. I realise that.

Like the people of India?

Expand full comment

Don't they lump the peoples of that whole vast continent together? He asked what *they'd* call him, right?

Expand full comment

Asian always meant someone who was mongoloid to me but in the UK ‘Asian’ seems to mean afghanis and Pakistanis.

Expand full comment

It's all relative isn't it? I take umbrage being lumped in as "european" culturally and racially speaking, as if I have anything to do with say albanians or rom, yet as a geographic descriptor it is of course correct.

As I told many a colleague over the years:

"Can you spot a dane from a swede from a finn? I can. So stop whining about me not being able (or bothering to learn how to) tell korans from japanese from chinese - to me they look alike."

We're all a little different, and that's just fine by me.

You can tell Finns apart from Danes and Swedes? Wow.

I can't tell apart most northern Europeans, it is all one gradient/blur. We have surely mixed quite well.

But if this Gringx living in Mexico is not light skinned and fair haired she wouldn’t necessarily qualify for being a Guera.

As long as she is guapx.

Im blonde & fair-skinned & my AZ high school Spanish teacher always called me güera 🙃

Si! Estás una Guera! (In other words you fit the criteria.) I am tall and blonde…when I was living in Mexico in a small coastal village in Oaxaca they referred to me as La Guerita Grandota!

Expand full comment

I believe Latinx is actually quite sinister. It is meant to destroy recognition of the sex differences that make men and women unique. It is similar to the transexual agenda. The male and female sexes are biological fact. Denying / lying about these differences is destructive to society.

CA tried this on my 8yo. We no longer live in that state

Expand full comment

It simply shows a complete misunderstanding of the Spanish language. Latino refers to a group of men and women or just a group of men.

Latina refers to women only. Latino by default includes everyone so why would you need to create a pretend word to do exactly the same thing.

I wonder what they would do with German that has three genders and uses the neutral gender for girls but feminine for women.

Expand full comment

I don't think it is a misunderstanding at all. I think it is intentional and destructive. Language and definitions are the beginning, but never the end. And yes, if they are successful with Latinx, they will likely go after German and French at some point.

Expand full comment

You may be correct as the term only gains traction with English speakers. I have yet to meet a Spanish only speaker (i live between guatemala and mexico) who has even heard of the term. It really only matters to the political elite who hope to continue their divisions.

Expand full comment

Oh but they're trying to push gender-neutral language in some niche woke corners of the hispanosphere.

They want to replace the masculine "o" ending with an "e" for inclusiveness.

So you'd say "hola todes!" (Hello everyone) Instead of "hola todos!"

It's not catching on, of course, but not because they aren't trying. I have a friend who works for a subtitling company and various major streaming platforms are dictating that all their shows get translated into foreign languages in "inclusive" ways. They're writing it into the contracts...

My friend and her team of translators have to attend monthly workshops on how to adapt DEI principles into their work. Dumb liberal arts grads working from home in California are telling European translators with decades of professional experience that they need to "reform" their languages.

Expand full comment

They have done the same with words like presidente, by using la presidenta, which is grammatically incorrect

I keep waiting for the word woman to be changed because it has the letters man in it.

Expand full comment

No, "la presidenta" is not grammatically incorrect. It is just the feminine version of "el presidente" and has been in use for a long time (though it is also grammatically correct to say "la presidente").

When it's singular, Spanish is not like English. In English, "chairman" could be used to describe a woman. In Spanish, you cannot use a masculine noun and pronoun to refer to a singular woman.

Same as we say "la jefa" if it's a female boss instead of "el jefe".

The ending "-es" is what's unnatural and incorrect. The wokesters have invented it as a "gender-neutral" way of referring in the plural to a group that is mixed sex.

Expand full comment

Would that just make it, "Wo?" Pronounced, "Whoa." 😉

Expand full comment

They are trying to mutilate the German language badly. It is not catching on, though, 70% of Germans are opposed to gender neutral German. I cancel any subscription as soon as they start to use gendered German.

Expand full comment

Are they also trying to eliminate the use of pregnant women and mother as well? The push in english is to refer to people with the capacity to become pregnant and birthing parent.

https://mobile.twitter.com/greg_price11/status/1546893479120457729?s=20&t=4NigyPWhDMRmTJhIxkU9EA

I cannot help but think that this is going to end very badly for mankind. The push to accept a false sense of reality can never be good.

Expand full comment

Yeah, the most radical gender dimwits are trying to get us to say parent1 and parent 2 for mother and father and a pregnant woman is a "birthing person" or "child bearing person". But that ain't gonna fly with Germans, no way. We will soon have a massive energy crisis (no nat gas any more), which I am actually looking forward to. I think it may either cure some of the woke BS or it will destroy us, we shall see. We have oil heating and the tank is full. We also have a lovely cottage in Switzerland, just 100 miles away deep in the alps, in case this energy issue really becomes serious.

Expand full comment

Good for you to have the Swiss option. I'm a resident in Mexico so I no longer have to put up with the lunacy in the USA.

Expand full comment

No joke, I have a friend who works for a subtitling company and this is more or less what a certain American streaming company has told her team of European translators. They want them to literally change language usage and grammatical norms so it aligns with the so-called "inclusive" agenda.

Expand full comment

Yep--part of the transhumanist push.

Expand full comment

This reminds me of an incident in my former uber-woke job (which I later got run out of for objecting to woke speech censorship). One of the Wokesters decreed in response to a suggestion that we celebrate Cinco de Mayo that we were "too white" for that, and it would be offensive to Mexicans. Apparently she didn't realize that Cinco de Mayo is a minor patriotic holiday that almost no one in Mexico celebrates, and is a much bigger deal in Gringolandia than Mexico. I took an informal poll of all my Mexican friends, and not one of them was offended by non-Mexicans celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

In America, anything is a good reason to get piss-faced drunk. Nobody who's Irish cares that the Americans have bastardized St. Patrick's Day, either.

They celebrate Oktober Fest, too. Liquor is liquor in the good 'ole USA!

The Irish will drink to that.

You hit the nail on the head, my friend.

I think Cinco de Mayo as a “thing” was created by Corona beer to sell…beer

Expand full comment

Correct.

Expand full comment

Cinco de Mayo is not even a holiday in Mexico.

Expand full comment

It is, but a very minor one mostly celebrated in Puebla, where the battle it commemorates was fought.

Expand full comment

Agreed. I was referring to it not being a national holiday.

Expand full comment

For Halloween of 2019 a hapa friend of ours dressed up in lederhosen and posted jovial photos on social media. I asked if that counted as cultural appropriation, since a mutual friend posts a helpful list of “just don’t” costumes every year. I could not for the life of me figure out what was different. I was stonewalled.

Expand full comment

I wonder, too, why the trans phenomenon isn’t considered appropriation. Maybe if you’re mentally ill appropriation doesn’t count? (I’m just spit-balling...)

Expand full comment

Recynd, Because man! If you feel like a woman, by golly you ARE! No appropriation to see here

Very not safe for life, but Zinnia Jones is a great dive. This muppet actually gets quoted in news sources as a 'transactivist' and taken seirously. No cultural appropriation going on here.

I guess because we all started out with female chromosomes? But then, all humans came from Africa.

It’s never cultural appropriation if the culture being appropriated is white

Expand full comment

Not to be the Grammar Nazi I clearly am, you forgot to capitalize the “w” in “White”. Because, somehow, colors became proper nouns. Even for White people. (I didn’t get a vote on this...)

Expand full comment

Haha I’m sure the wokesters would like to marginalize further w/ lower case. Only minorities get upper

I thought the w in white was specifically to be written in lower case? I feel like I read about this somewhere in the past.
