Like all powerful, culture-transforming memes, this metonymous phrase is about far more than the literal words it represents but is a rallying cry, an anthem exposing the fakicity of the entire news artifice itself. el gato malo captures this Trojan attack eloquently: “it became the criticism of not just a man, but the edifice that propped him up and kept him in place.”
A couple other reasons Let's Go Brandon works: it doesn't sound like the obscenity it replaced, and it is actually an uplifting (though empty) phrase. Like Yes We Can or Hope and Change or Build Back Better. Also, when liberal pundits/activists get confused or offended when hearing it, it shows how out of touch they are.
Soviet style gerontocracy collapsing before our eyes, thanks to the proud Americans who peacefully threw the molotovs at the polls. And just like the downtrodden yet resilient Russians who created code words for the murderous/buffoonish clowns in charge, Let's Go Brandon crystallizes all of the unmitigated disasters--stolen 2020 election, masking 2 year olds on planes, money for torturing snoopy, wide open southern border, Taliban flying Apaches with their roped hanging dissidents, and the piece de resistance, parents at school board meetings chastising their "overloads" for abusing their children and allowing rapes to occur in bathrooms thenceforth called terrorists by the same gerontocracy being dragged off the stage. Jail isn't hard enough for these bureaucrats and bungholes of the Brandon administration. Faux chi for one needs reckoning via Nuremberg-level trials, to start.
A thing I've noticed. The progressives don't get humor. They certainly can't laugh at themselves. Their idea of humor includes meanness, and LGB isn't mean on it's face. The fact that it's still a running joke 1 month after it's inception is very significant. Since the progressives won't engage in honest debate, and ridicule has been found to actually get a response, predict there will be more and more of this.
Loved this. You're right, it's the fact that anyone can say "Let's Go Brandon!" and the way the left reacts to it that gives this thing legs. I have a t-shirt, and I would never have a t-shirt that says "F--" anyone or anything. Even if I said that kind of thing, which I don't, I would not say or wear it in a general crowd, especially when children might be there. But it's 100% innocuous, everyone knows exactly what it means, and the complete inability of the left to laugh at themselves makes it ever-hilarious. "How dare you!" (cue Greta Thunberg)
So today in San Diego, CA I participated in The World Wide Walkout held in downtown SD on the Embarcadero at San Diego Harbor. Hundreds of People lined Harbor Drive on side of the street on the median strip in the middle. The two cutest ‘protesters’ were these 2 kids around 10-12 years old, that chanted ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ & held signs that said the same as the cars went by…LGB is EVERYWHERE! LBG Rights live on! ;)
