The thing is, it doesn't matter why they lied about masks. They were either lying then, or are lying now. But they. LIED. Which makes them untrustworthy for any further information.

Exactly, once a lier, NEVER to be trusted again

I confronted a coworker about this. She said they lied about masks because they had everyone's best interest at heart.

Expand full comment

The only thing more horrifying than the officials willing to lie is people being totally okay with it as long as they think the intentions were good.

Expand full comment

What was that Road to Hell again? Oh, ooopsie.

And the further horrifying thing is that so many people are so willfully blind that they are able to convince themselves of these monsters' "good intentions". I actually get angrier at people who trot this crap out than I do at the ones who are so dense that they actually believe what Fauci et al say.

After flying last July, I made a vow *never* to fly again as long as there are any kinds of requirements for medical devices or shots or anything else. When I did fly last July, as someone who absolutely can't stand pretzels, it took me 2 hours to eat 10 little tiny pretzels and drink a tiny cup of water. I'm sure glad the masked, goggled and gloved lady sitting in front of me quite literally used 3 of the "sanitizing wipes" to wipe down every single area where she was sitting while looking at me like I was evil because I wasn't going through the same ritual. If she hadn't of done all of that, I'm sure everyone on the flight would be dead by now...

Sat next to two ladies like that on my last cross country flight. SO worried about germs but they never shut up once during the 4+ hour flight. They were muzzled of course...but I wanted to wring their necks to keep them quiet!

People that travel on commercial airliners are not afraid of germs or flying. The ones that pretend to be afraid of those things are just afraid. And they'll continue to be afraid for their whole lives until they realize it.

This is the main reason why masks on planes is so dumb. I got on a flight this summer and fell asleep with my mask on and woke up , first thing I noticed was no one wearing masks. I was like WTF? Oh, they all had their drinks and snacks. What BS. I really don't see how it is possible even 1% of the population cannot see through the absolute joke of mask mandates.

I have a collection of masks when I fly " "This mask is as useless as your vaccine" is my favorite on short flights. For international flights I use the masks that are so thin they restrict almost zero air. They look like masks and no on can tell (except the white ones .. lol)

So I monitor government auctions for my job, and I can tell you that over the last 6 months or so, pallets and pallets of thousands of masks & other PPE are languishing in warehouses all over the country. Yours to buy for pennies on the dollar. All at taxpayers expense. Also, every couple of weeks or so, on other private auctions, you can buy your very own mask production facility somewhere in the US. The middle is getting bored of this.

Good news! I've noticed the ads for masks aren't appearing endlessly on my Facebook feed anymore. I had assumed the algorithm figured out I'm not a potential customer, but maybe it's because almost no one is anymore. I did need this, as I live in a particularly brainwashed neighborhood in NYC so it's hard not to be pessimistic if I don't get a glimpse into what sane parts of the country think.

When I see ads in my feed for masks or containing people wearing masks, I report the ads.

I'm in NYC too and it amazes me how much disparity there is in the face masks by neighborhood or by train line depending on the time of day. I have been out and about since the beginning and never wear a mask anywhere but my wrist. It's also encouraging to see how many others around me will take off the masks or push their noses out when they see someone else is maskless. Hold the line - we do not comply!

In SW Ohio you can see the difference by store. Whole Foods is more masked than any other place I go. The women in Whole Foods are highly masked. Next most masked is the Starbucks across the parking lot. After that, masking drops off fairly quickly.

Not so much in my neighborhood, which I suspect is the most brainwashed neighborhood in NYC, or at least close to it. At least people don't yell at me anymore.

Also live in a brainwashed neighborhood in SF. But I've been to Texas, Florida, Alabama, Ohio & Kentucky over the last 6 months and hardly anybody in those places, even the cities, wear masks outside (& most not inside either). I think the hysteria is pretty localized to blue cities in blue states.

Doug Young, I'm from SF Bay Area myself. When i went up north, even to the wine country, they didn't care. No mask indoor. My virtue signaling MIL who lives in SF most of her life said I couldn't believe they could be so selfish. I wanted to argue with data and facts, but my in laws are too brainwashed. They've had booster and just took my 87 years old nana to get her booster after survived two previous jabs. They think it's for their health and it's the right thing to do. I keep my mouth shut. They're beyond hopeless.

I just boarded a handicap bus (I assist). My charge had troubling digging out her mask. The driver ran to the front and gave me a huge bundle of masks. I just stuffed them in my pocket as they await the bin at home. And I recall the early days of street sellers hawking the masks on corners at inflated prices. Most people are reusing their car masks for weeks maybe not understanding how risky that might be, or not really caring. They are too polite to say no.

A little story about the evils of masking. I was traveling thru a state where there is a mask mandate. I went into a grocery store to use the bathroom. A masked woman exiting the bathroom as I was going in said "Hello!" really loudly to me and then grabbed my arm in a death grip and would not let go and was very strong. After trying to get her off I told her that if she didn't let go she was going to be pulling back a stump. She let go and then ran into a stall. I went into a stall and was freaked out and hoping she would leave before I got out. Then she wailed "Mother?"

The problem with masks is that you cannot read people properly. The part about disconnection because of masks is a real thing. We behave differently. If that woman were unmasked I am certain I would have understood that she was challenged and would have listened to her and helped her. It is my nature. Or not. Because I left her there. Normal me wouldn't have. When I got back to the car my husband said you are still wearing the mask. I took it off and he said "what's wrong?".

See? I will never wear another mask.

I've been studying American Sign Language (ASL) where facial expression is key. Imagine what it must be like for the deaf community. Plus, it is often necessary to touch someone to get their attention if they can't hear well, but touching has become a cardinal sin.

Masks are evil, as are those who mandate them on little to no evidence of their usefulness.

Expand full comment

That is true for a lot of elderly people. They cannot hear well (too put it politely). Early on docs here refused to remove their mask so communication was impossible. They don't know sign language and sometimes instructions from doctors are complicated especially for people with dementia. It becomes glaringly obvious what they who wish us dead are doing. Divide isolate depress conquer dominate. Multi-pronged offense.

Expand full comment

Absolutely. I hate them-- they make us hate each other.

Expand full comment

I dunno, hate might be a bit strong?

They make us distant & reluctant to talk to each other, in my opinion. I spent an hour in line at the Post Office the other day. A lady behind me had two approx 9 & under kids that were being real good at wearing their masks and keeping each other occupied. I was watching them for a bit (because bored) & if not masked, they would have seen me smiling at them. They didn't and I don't know, if I were still a mom of a small child, how I would feel about masked people staring at my kid when you can't see what their expression is? Are they smiling indulgently, or leering, or mad?

Very frustrating & I think by design, they are trying to take away our ability to communicate non-verbally, which could spark a verbal discussion. They want us quiet & isolated. Maybe. Who knows?

My research team and I cited over 200 studies from the peer-reviewed medical and scientific literature showing that masks do not protect against either viral or bacterial pathogens (either the wearer or others), and that they cause harms, from primarily particulate inhalation, bacterial incubation and hypoxia/hypercapnia. Those five articles are in Volume 1 of https://PDMJ.org.

How crazy were we to “theorize” that “two weeks to flatten the curve” would become vaxx mandates/passports and “quarantine camps”?

We were completely in tin-foil-hat territory predicting that “safe and effective” would become an endless series of “boosters” of a useless and dangerous “holy water”, leaving shocking death and injury in its wake.

I’m hoping “the center” tunes into those who have been consistently right and turns away from the always-wrong “public health leaders” and craven politicians.

You would think that if they wanted to show how important masking on planes was they could show at least one instance of a superspreader event from a flight. Just one. Unfortunately that's the legacy of the covid response. Institute measures based on panic, then never come back and do a rational evaluation of whether the measures were either necessary or effective.

Last night, we attended a holiday music performance at my son's high school. First one in 2 years. The choir had to perform fully mask, ed. It was one of the single most upsetting things that I've seen during this mask hysteria. Their voices were muffled so that we couldn't understand the words that they were singing. Their eyes were sad and despondent.

My son is in the band; plays trumpet. Initially, they had the students cut holes in the masks so that they could fit their mouthpiece through the hole. When this didn't work, they (being the horrible Oregon authorities) graciously allowed the students to pull down their masks only when actively playing. So, throughout the concert, you have musicians constantly touching their masks by pulling them up/down, up/down, up/down.

Oregon now wants to make the indoor mask mandate permanent. If you can object to this (even being outside Oregon as a potential tourist), I beg you to log an objection once the public commenting period is open (assuming it does open). We are planning to move out of Oregon once he graduates.

Of course you can always move to Texas. But Texas is getting a little too purple for my taste. I despise all the New Yorkers and California people moving to Texas. They are ruining it. Slowly but surely they are ruining it. Austin has become a shanty town. Homeless people everywhere on every corner. It’s like LA. Illegals pouring in across the border bringing covid and getting paid $450k once they get here by the Biden administration. And Gregg Abbott isn’t doing anything to stop it. It’s sad.

I think every day about moving to Utah, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming or a red state in the bread basket. You want a state with a governor and a mayor who will leave you alone. No mask mandates, No vaccine mandates, a police department that is paid well to keep you safe, no CRT in schools, parents should have a say in what their kids are taught in schools, no crazy hospitals that refuse patients treatment, no crazy doctors who refuse to give you early treatment, no crazy pharmacies who refuse to fill valid prescriptions.

I used to get along great with all liberals. Now I can’t stand to be around liberals who push vaccine mandates with no long term safety data at the expense of our personal freedoms. Since the “pandemic” I find these liberals disgust me. I don’t want them in my life. I am surrounding my self with conservative and libertarian friends who think like me. We plot ways to burn Vaccine mandates to the ground. Our motto is “Don’t tread on me.” Basically there aren’t many places in the US like this left. I want to live with people who believe in hard work, capitalism and the American dream.

I worried about Texas. I honestly am.

I've been watching their website ever since the LGB thing happened at that NASCAR race, and I even emailed AAFNation to ask if they intended to make the LGB masks. They were noncommittal. I would've bought a few.

Yeah, not only do masks not pass the pretzels-on-a-plane test, but the "any kind of mask will do, just make it masky!" makes it pretty apparent this lacks substance. (Very similar to "mix and match! any vaccine will do, just as long as you get one!")

Not that I want them requiring N95s, but "reckless" to expose your nostrils and mouth and yet totally and completely safe to come in wearing the mask you've created on your sewing machine? If this were truly a dangerous virus and masks were effective, they'd be tacking on a small surcharge and handing out approved masks before entering the airport. (Again, I hate to think I'm giving anyone ideas, but the level of hyperbole surrounding this is absurd-- is pulling up my neck gaiter really saving lives?)
