Surely, *this* will wake up the Puerto Rican Covidians … right? Are any former believers starting to get pissed that after jumping through all these Rube Goldberg hoops, they’re being asked to do so again, only while doing handstands this time? 🎡

nope.

most of the island loves this stuff. the panic theater here has completely worked. outdoor mask wear is ~99% in many wealthy locals neighborhoods despite not being required.

the teens are also brainwashed as hell. the schools have really done a number on them.

falls apart rapidly in the younger adults and working class neighborhoods. calle loiza does not give a damn about any of this. la perla has been laughing at it all along.

this is a disease of the wealthy and somewhat educated. interestingly, the actual epidemiologists here are appalled. but they all got shut out of debate. so did all the "experts" that came in to consult. decision are made by politicians with zero subject matter knowledge. it's all cosplay, posturing, and crony corporatism.

i mean, wanda was imposing blue laws last year (no alcohol sales on weekends) just to please the church groups that backed her.

this is all just being made up.

Thanks for the report from the frontlines, el gato. I’m really sorry you and the minority of sane individuals there are having to suffer this. It seems the endemic corruption in PR is making this even more brutal and difficult to overcome.

I’m curious—if you ever go maskless, how do people react? Do you get pushback, or does anyone high-five you or join in as well?

If only we could figure out how to shatter the spell …

i constantly go maskless.

it used to attract literal police attention even outdoors. it also used to attract yelling abuleas and other such karen critters.

no one does that anymore. i walk into restaurants without them, bars, etc. there are some that are still anal about it. i just don't go there.

i wear a mask maybe twice a week to grocery shop and even then in as half assed a fashion as i can manage.

san juan still has some serious mask zealot hotspots, but they can be ignored if you know your way around.

much of the rest of the island stopped giving AF months ago.

I've occasionally gotten past the stormtroopers at the entrances to Econo and Supermax, and have remained maskless until I've gotten to checkout.

At one Econo I actually engaged in a nice conversation with the girl who was checking me out (no, not THAT way; I'm 60), and she never said Boo about my lack of a mask. But then one of the stormtroopers noticed, and came over and [scolded me, I assume - it was in Spanish]. I said, "I'm on my way out" as I bagged the last of my few groceries, but he was having none of it. So he made me mask up for my remaining 20 seconds in the store. Saved humanity, probably.

Got to the register at an Amigo once, and almost to the register at a Supermax, and in and out at a Supermax when I couldn't find the one thing I was looking for.

So I try to enter discreetly and when the Covidiots aren't watching, and then traverse the store maskless until and unless some authority (e.g. not some shopping Karen, as has happened) makes me.

That is, no matter where, I now *make* them make me. I make them have to confront me. Some will, a lot won't. (Now that I think of it, at the driving range I went into the pro shop and bought some tokens and had a nice conversation with the guy at the counter behind the all-saving plexiglass, and he never said anything about my masklessness. So I think the key is, as you've said, Do Not Comply. It may embolden those less bold but who share our viewpoint.)

LOL, yeah, it feels good to just not GAS anymore. (I say "anymore" but I've been fighting the mask Nazis and Covidiots since the first curfew back in March 2020 during the incompetent Wanda's reign as governor.)

There's a brand-new Pueblo in Guaynabo that I went to a couple of weeks ago. They had an employee standing guard at the front with her hand sanitizer to sprintz everyone upon entry, even though the stupid mandates dropped that crap. I said, "This theatre again? Seriously? No," and walked off. Store management here has OCD tyrant syndrome.

I live in Guaynabo. I'll have to figure out where it is, and go give the stormtroopers some pushback.

Can answer this:

In Walgreens and Amigo (a supermarket) I took off my mask for a while. In the one, ended up arguing with the teenaged guard from the entrance and in the other ended up arguing with one of the boys who was shelving products (who was so kind as to leave to get me a mask - I don’t know why he thought I needed one when I pointed to mine and said “this doesn’t work” quite pointedly “it’s fake.” The poor idiot).

It still hasn’t happened (to me) outdoors.

Expand full comment

Walgreens and Supermax and Econo shout at me as soon as I walk in maskless. Once in a blue moon their stormtroopers are looking the other way when I walk in, and then I can navigate the stores mostly until I get to the register, then they come out of the woodwork. But the fear reflected in people's body language as soon as they see that I'm not wearing a mask is everywhere. I swear, one woman waited until I exited an aisle before she would go down it.

Expand full comment

I've seen the fear on people's faces when confronted with the maskless and I feel REALLY bad for those people. It's purely fear driven behaviour caused by government propaganda. Dune's 'fear is the mind killer' is 100% true. When fearful, brain function is decreased as blood goes to the extremities for fight/flight.

It’s like sequels on hit movies. Hollywood try’s to recreate the formula that made the first movie such a hit. And with each sequel they add more danger and suspense, thinking that’s what made the first movie a success. Not realizing the movie’s success was probably mostly because it was something new, not seen before. People rush to the theater for the second sequel, but by the 3rd, 4th and 5th sequel you loose your audience. Most will be tired of watching the shark/Death Star/dinosaur get blown up again snd again and again. Producers know they can always find an audience, it shrinks each time, but they keep making the sequels. I kinda feel this way about Covid crap now, each sequel is loosing interest, except for the zealots who hang on because they tied their identity to the original “movie “.

My university in Australia is considering mandating vaccination for entry into campus. They pretended to care what students thought by requesting feedback on the proposal. I sent a detailed response to the deputy vice chancellor explaining why I strongly oppose the idea.

Some parts of their response:

'Should the University move to mandate vaccination, it is hoped as yet unvaccinated individuals would recognise that this measure was intended to protect their health & safety, and that this might give them sufficient cause to reconsider their position on vaccination.'

'This [the proposal] doesn’t mean that individuals are being forced to have a vaccine, but that evidence of vaccination is required for access.'

'We respect individuals’ rights to make informed decisions. We similarly expect that whatever position the University arrives at, it will be respected.'

What amazing doublethink! Such an intelligent crowd at University.

My response:

Guess what, universitarians. SarsCov doesn't give a flying fuck what your "intentions" are with your proposed vax mandate.

Oh. Wait a sec...I take that back. Sarscov *encourages* your mandate.

"So many vaxxed to infect. So little time. Helps me spread when you corral them into one space!"

Went to PR earlier this year, fully vaxed, neg test and all. Most of the population wore masks everywhere including walking alone on the beach. Pleasant enough place but if you walked down the street in the city w/o a mask the cops would come alongside and sound their siren at you until you put on your mask. We jast stayed on the beach or the countryside where, of course, there weren't many police. The people are really whipped there.

In June 2020 they pulled over to the curb to tell me - unmasked, alone, no one else within a football field of me - to tell me to put my mask on. FOUR cops, all masked, in that one car, more worried about masking me than about trying to make a dent in our drug gang epidemic and broad-daylight drug executions (one of which took place at 4:20pm on a weekday in a hotel parking lot roughly two blocks from where the cops "pulled me over" for being maskless).

Hi Holly,

Good name for the season.

I shared your "Twelve Doses of Christmas" with a friend and this was his reply.

MISINFORMATION ALERT!!!

Firstly, and most horrifically, the singing is recorded elsewhere and later dubbed over the video!

Secondly, and less importantly, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines do not give blood clots as the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen ones do, thankfully they give heart inflammation (myocarditis and pericarditis) instead. These were already included in the "heart condition" line, but then are repeated as their own separate categories in the following lines of the song. Likewise, the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccines do not give myocarditis or pericarditis (heart conditions), they most thankfully give blood clots instead.

Vaxzevria is the same thing as AstraZeneca, it has just been rebranded, not for the elimination of the virus of course, but for the elimination of the negative perception AstraZeneca has in the eyes of the public after its vaccine's safety and efficacy was questioned by politicians in Europe and Australia after Danish scientists reported an increased rate of blood clots in individuals following vaccination.

Comirnaty is the same thing as the Pfizer vaccine, it was just given that name instead of its prior identifier, (BNT162b2), for commercial use after it received approval from the US FDA.

Likewise, Spikevax is the same thing as the Moderna vaccine, it was just given that name for commercial use instead of its prior identifier mRNA-1273.

"Vector" is a mis-reference to the class of vaccine technology known as viral vector vaccines, which include the vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen.

MRNA is the name of the vaccine technology used in the vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna.

Covishield is the same thing as AstraZeneca, it is just the name given to the doses produced in India.

These separate names for the same vaccines are just used as padding to fill the lines of the song because there is a lack of other relevant targets for the ire of this crowd.

Thrombocytopenia is just the technical name for a specific type of blood clot experienced after receiving the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccines, so was already included in the generic blood clot category earlier in the song, and is being repeated as those viewers not technically aware will think the vaccines are responsible for more types of conditions than they really are.

You anti-vaxxers are incorrigible with your blatant misinformation on topics you plainly don't understand. Please properly research topics before making them into terrible Christmas carols.

Yours insincerely,

XXX

It has been a clown show here since day one of Wuhan. Nobody ever did explain why they banned fishing alone with nobody within a kilometer. The rules were divorced from all logic and science.

Hacienda fined a bunch of businesses around here so there is mask theater, but very few take it seriously anymore. The only time I wear mine is at the supermarket. At most places they want a chin diaper in case hacienda shows up looking for money. It is all pretty sad on this side of the island.

Expand full comment

They take is seriously at most places I go to. Golf courses, supermarkets, hair cut place, pet stores, post offices - they take it seriously and hysterically (not "funny"; like, out of control hysterical if you set foot inside sin mask).

I was walking alone on a city street in Condado a year ago June, no one within a football field of me. A cop car pulls over to the curb, calls me and motions me over, to tell me I need to put my mask on.

Outside. Alone. No one nearby.

The cop car had FOUR cops in it. All masked. Keeping Puerto Rico safe from us unmasked, and safe FOR the drug gangs, because the cops are all busy going after innocent unmasked citizens minding their own business.

Expand full comment

It's so much easier and safer to go after unmasked citizens than to confront drug gangs with guns. So much easier....and safer! Gotta be safe.

Well, and from what I've heard cops are paid, it's not a surprising consequence.

Here in Germany we have the ridiculous “2G” (fully vaccinated or officially recovered from Covid) or “3G" (essentially adds a negative test to the list of accepted states) system.

Almost everything here has been 2G for a while so I'm banned from everywhere except public transport, supermarkets, and pharmacies, for which I must show a negative test from within the last 24-hours.

As if this isn't bad enough, there's now “2G+" which requires a negative test from the 2G folks. It obviously makes zero sense but the compliant morons here continue wearing their masks, “checking in” everywhere to prove their 2G status AND showing a negative test.

Words fail me.

Just as adherents to Christianity have been taken—wholesale—by peddlers of trash theology, adherents to the Faith of Science are being shepherded into catastrophic error by salesmen of corrupted Science.

The Prosperity Gospel wolves in sheep’s clothing, as one example, get very rich on their distortions.

The Covidian power elites get obscenely wealthy. And their victims vastly outnumber those ill-pastored Christians. And they are being injected with death.

The West is disintegrating before our very eyes.

My ability to find the silver lining here is, sadly, limited. Kudos to all who can.

If what I heard on a podcast (cool hand news) is correct, New York going to vote on a bill that gives them the right to detain anyone or any group they consider a health risk and take whatever measures they consider necessary to mitigate that risk, up to vaccination.

That would definitely line up with Australia and will change the game for sure.

If the information is wrong, I’d love to hear about it. Just listened to the podcast past midnight last night and haven’t done any extra research yet.

The reason I bring it up (aside from the alarm it raises) is all the Puerto Ricans who live in New York are not as compliant as the colonized brethren that lives here.

Why do people feel they need to comply with these things? Why aren't we all working on every measure in our constitutions to take back the stolen power? We have God given, not government given rights. They are yours. As far as big events, don't buy tickets. The people and money behind them will speak out when it starts hitting their pocketbook. Gather groups of 50-100 and go into businesses with out masks and cards. Coordinate to do it all across a community at one time. They can't police it all. People all over the world are marching, but not in the US. DO NOT COMPLY. Stop voting in people on the left and put this on the right in notice that if they don't do their one job, protect your rights, they are out too. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE.
