What was really eye-opening for me, was back in 2012 I went to my orthopedic surgeon for a follow-up, and I had to fill out new paperwork because his practice was being absorbed by a healthcare corp. When I asked him about it, he said "Yup, after 27 years in private practice, I'm now just an employee". He actually shared, at great length, the cost structures and regulations that were put in place by ACA that precipitated his decision. Same thing happened to my primary care doctor. He told me that in a couple of years almost no doctors would be in private practice, and that was the way the government wanted it, "so they can control what we do".

My cardiologist and my PCP are still staunchly in private practice and they’re damn proud of it. Rebels. 👍

We have had almost 60 years of it in Canada. 1984, "The Canada Health Act" was imposed to break physicians' independence, and has worked well. As any other government promise, it has not made Canada "healthier."
