I agree with you. After many disappointments I left the Catholic and episcopal churches. No more organized religion for me. I pray to God before I get out of bed and a few times during the day He and I have private conversations. ItтАЩs my faith that gets me through.
I hope he has not lost his hope in Christ. He is the real mediator and the only one any of us can pin any hope on at all.
