Exactly my thought when I heard the NPR piece on long covid, this morning (see? the COORDINATED media push? looks/sounds awful familiar....). How many of these people a) are salaried, so they can keep taking off sick/work less hours with no financial penalty or b) are sitting on quite a bit of savings or c) were already financially comfortable 'independent contractors' who, you know, do consulting for $450/hr and can literally phone that in from their fainting couch, with a few strategically placed heaved sighs and stifled coughs to let their clients know what workaholics they are...?
