There were hardly any other people awake, it seemed, until the Waco massacre. And the Oklahoma City bombing. And the 9/11 events. Even as late as 2002 in the fall of the American empire it was often hard to talk openly about freedom and tyranny with people I had known for a long time. So there was a façade for them and we would talk about sportsball or whatever they thought was a safe topic.
