Maybe, I know they g he ad issues with Tom Sawyer but didn’t realized there was a ban. Getting old I guess
I worked in a library. Once in awhile we had a banned book display of historic and current “banned” books. Twain had been at times. Some very surprising books in the lists. Origin of the Species by Darwin used to be the most stolen book.
