Elon responded to serial liar HRC with the real story about pelosi, legend.

We don't know if what he linked to is the real story. But we do know he couldn't be suspended for saying there might be a little more to what's been reported than we've been told.

All people are complicated. He's one of those uniquely-wired types who defy all categorization.

He's got serious work ethic and, I'd suspect, great instincts.

He's also made those billions off of stuff I myself despise. Keep out of space and fuck them EVs and don't partner with the CCP, one o' my trusty mottoes. Don't spread your seed widely, another one. Don't up the chances of engendering batshit-crazy progeny, a third.

But if he's the catalyst through which free speech flows, I ain't gonna hate that.

I've been to the Gaslamp District in San Diego - it's very nice - but have never visited SF. Is where the Pelosis live called the Gaslight District?

Expand full comment

I had no idea that this is what happened, I don't use twitter so it took a bit to find the details. Wow.

Expand full comment

I never did see the tweet (I also don't twitter). I went thru pages on a search engine and the only thing I found was how he was a conspiracy theorist. I searched his tweets as best I could without an account. Nothing. I have an IDEA of what he said... the obvious things, but not the actual thing. They won't let people see for themselves without running the disinfo gauntlet.

Expand full comment

When I searched, I came across a British paper that explained the entire story. Here's what I found just now:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11370729/Elon-Musk-shares-tweet-suggesting-Paul-Pelosis-attacker-GAY-PROSTITUTE.html

Whether the original story was true or not, interesting questions are indeed raised, best one (in my mind) 'in the middle of the night, how did a gay, homeless, drug addict wearing only underwear make his way to the Pelosi home, get past security and cameras, I'm sure they have them, and get into the house, did he walk?, drive?, use public transit?. How was he even able to find it?

Expand full comment

It will be interesting to hear what happens when the man gets to court. I'm not betting there will be much truth.

Expand full comment

It is interesting that Pelosi is not cooperating with the investigation. He is not handing over the videos from the cameras surrounding and (perhaps) from within the home.

Where is the police body cam footage? Let the light shine on all the facts.

Me thinks the story Musk linked to may have had some truth to it. And just imagine, if the Dems had let this slide and not made such a huge commotion about 'right wing nuts', it would have all stayed quiet. That's Karma!

Expand full comment

And the NYT then tweeted that Musk tweeted out a link to fake news or something like that and Musk tweeted back that the NYT is incorrect, he did not link to the NYT.

Things may go south at Twitter, but for now Musk provides endless entertainment.

I'n not sure if the story can be true until some time elapses. In today's world it seems convergence now requires time.

The way we win is at least partially by being accurate in everything we say--including, if necessary, saying we don't have enough info yet to draw an accurate conclusion.

It all reeks of desperation. The lies come so quick and are so divorced from what anyone with eyes not blinded by ideology can see, only the blind can believe it.

Expand full comment

The media and the Dems know most people only read headlines and forget about the story within a day. They think all they have to do is lie just enough to get most people to look past it.

Expand full comment

They believe the blowback from the lie is never as great as the effect of the lie, which is too often true. Most Dems still believe everything about Russiagate without questions, as absolute fact. Most of them still believe the Hunter Biden laptop is Russian propaganda.

Expand full comment

Sadly, that is true. They continue to get away with outright lying, because eventually the truth comes out but they know people have already moved on. The original lie is a front page headline and the correction a week later is hidden on the back page.

Expand full comment

I can’t quite figure out if those punishing days of lock downs and FEAR have been forgotten, or people just want to move on and are choosing to remember it differently--like it was a bad party they attended and managed to grin and bear their way through it.

I have not, and will not, forget. The shear level of bullshit pushed with such conviction and hubris is making my blood pressure rise as I write.

You’re exactly right; all the blatant lies and fairytales were the most pernicious part--these charlatans lying to all of us and mandating behavior because they were so superior in intellect to the ignorant and child-like proletariat. We (the proletariat) could not possibly think and decide for ourselves.

What a dark, dark time in our history.

That "law enforcement" went along with blatantly unconstitutional power grabs and egregious violations of basic human rights is another thing I shall never forget -- or forgive. Remember, scum like the "Wretch-mer" have only as much power as the uniformed paid enforcers give her. All who enforced disgraced themselves beyond repair and redemption in my book.

Expand full comment

same can be said of the FBI, CIA and the rest of the thugs that used to be the country's premier law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Expand full comment

I get your point, but I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion.

What is different today is not really the amount of bullshit, it is that with tools like social media ans substack, we can see more of it. This can be depressing if we let it; but it can also be freeing, as in now that we know what they're up to, we can choose not to let them get away with it.

I think that's what Gato's point was with this post. It will not be easy, but would not even have been possible without the relative freedom of the internet communities and their ability to shed light on the cockroaches.

Expand full comment

Perhaps it’s my lack of imagination, but I just don’t see any substantive change possible. I did not need social media (of which I’ve partaken of none) to let me know that Covid was the biggest scam in modern times. I am no sage, but I knew (and called) bullshit at the start.

And for all of the internet's and social media’s purported truth telling ability, it really did not do very much to quell the hysteria. As a matter of fact; I would say it brought an immediacy that stoked people into a frenzy.

I want what everyone who reads El Gato wants: some accountability for this EPIC pfraud, a dismantling of these giant, unaccountable Fed agencies, and, most of all, NEVER again to have a repeat of the suspension of our liberties—by anyone, for any reason. Ever.

That was my point prior: all of the lies exposed and narrative unraveling has not opened as many people’s eyes as I had hoped. I just don’t know what it’s going to take.

When your choices are Schumer or Zeldin, what change can you really expect. I’ll never vote for a Dem. again, but so then I get to vote for the party that brought me the Iraq war? And really, both parties showed a cowardice these last three years that makes me detest them all.

So, to be clear, I’m not looking to vote my way to a better country, nor am I hopeful that some billionaire will uphold the constitution when our judiciary has decided to sit out most of the last three years.

All of that said, I feel really hopefully because I’ve found this community. Give me a task to help bring about more individual liberty (aside from living it myself) and I will get it done.

I believe that 'what it's going to take' is what Burning Bright, another substack writer, calls a 'Scare Event.' Brandon's mumblings about a 'nuclear Armageddon' are a start. The 101st Airborne 3 miles from Ukraine, ready to fight the Russians directly, might contribute. Failure of some of the world's main financial institutions likely also a part.

Regarding the Iraq war, that is not really the fault of the parties, it's the fault of the NWO/WEF droids (the Bushes are there, so are the Clintons and Obama and Brandon, and Lindsey Graham -- so both Dems and GOP well represented).

There are some fresh faces and folks of courage stepping up this go-round. But I agree with you, voting alone will not solve the problem -- when it has been part of the problem.

That 'immediacy stoking people to a frenzy' cuts both ways. Let's hope that as the Scare Event materializes, we'll see more and more Normies getting red-pilled. You are right, so far there aren't enough and many people are trying to go on as if nothing is happening. That won't be possible at some point. Then, and only then, will major changes be possible.

How did David LePape (whose behavior was criminal and horrific) get from Berkley to the elite neighborhood on the Pacific side of San Francisco in the middle of the night in his underwear? (Maybe a 40 minute drive by car) He also had to find Nancy's house. Did he get a ride from his X wife and mother of two of his kids. I think he lived in the van but was it operable or was it just on blocks as so many of them are. He was a dealer in this weird drug that was discovered among the Pygmies of central Africa but now is grown in Mexico. It's a psychedelic, sort of. Was it a drug deal gone very bad? I hear a third person opened the door. So, like so many events this one will remain in conspiratorial territory. I think the take away for those of us in California is that we need criminal laws that carry consequences, and the homeless are not harmless.

I fear that we may be counting our chickens before they hatch. Musk seems to be very good at playing/trolling both sides. The recent announcement of creating a Content Moderation Council is a prime example of pretending to change things, but not really changing anything:

Elon Musk says he's creating a 'content moderation council' for Twitter after Kanye West's account was reinstated

https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-says-hes-creating-twitter-content-moderation-council-2022

Expand full comment

There is bound to be some form of content moderation. Sadly, we can't allow everything. Things like death threats, child porn, content that encourages illegal activity. These are the things that need moderation.

Expand full comment

Agree. Those are the things that should be banned. Not speech. If you don’t like what someone is saying (bc it’s hateful to you or others, or hurts your feelings) DON’T READ IT. Block that person. Don’t read twatter. Or comments anywhere. Stay in your little corner. But maybe, if most people can discourse you MIGHT see something that isn’t just your little echo chamber and make you think. Maybe. We can always hope.

Expand full comment

Those forms of speech are already illegal. Originally, Elon stated that Twitter should permit anything that is not unlawful. After a few hours in charge, he decided to form committees to discuss it further.

Expand full comment

I saw that someone said that those who have been banned should be on the committee. Made me smile with approval. Having more than your own thoughts on such an important topic seems like a wise decision. Who is on the committee... that will be the thing. Ultimately, he will decide.

Expand full comment

It also sounds like he might be looking for a way to "rate" content. not explicitly ban it, but to make it more tuned to different audiences. Hard to imagine such a thing can exist in a world where porn is not that difficult to find.

That being said, I don't like the idea of different twitter designations like black twitter, alt right twitter, etc.

True. Those are examples of legally bound moderation. Why do you need a "diverse" Content Moderation Council to take care of the latter, unless you are also planning to go beyond those parameters?

Expand full comment

It sounds to me like he is creating something for a grey area. I could be wrong, but it could be this moderation council has to be in complete agreement or the information will not be moderated. I could be wrong, won't be the first time.

Moderation is fine until they start moderating something in a way that you disagree with.

Back in the QAnon days, when I was still a liberal, I didn't see anything wrong with accusations of disinformation and subsequent deplatforming (although I was sorry to see Trump leave Twitter because he was so entertaining).

Fast forward to the Covid panic, where it was obvious to me that the people in charge had their heads up their butts in terms of science.

Consequently, because censorship requires someone to determine what's true in a world where there's a lot of gray area, I'm now completely anti-censorship except in already illegal cases—child pornography, specific incitements to violence, doxxing and harassment, and the kinds of speech the First Amendment doesn’t allow online or off.

Why would the Democrats doubt that their narratives, notwithstanding that they are based on mountains of lies, will continue to be treated as legitimate positions? They told us that Hillary Clinton’s emails were investigated and that no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges against her, even though no one was subpoenaed or questioned under oath. They told us that Trump colluded with Russians to hack Hillary’s campaign and interfere in the 2016 election. They told us Trump sought foreign interference in the 2020 election based on a phone call, which was disclosed by a “whistleblower,” as opposed to partisan anti-Trump foreign policy officials. They told us that the 2020 election was clean even though there was chaos at vote counting centers on election night, the vote count was suspended, and days later, Biden had overcome sizable deficits. They told that Trump’s home had to be raided by armed FBI agents because the National Archives believes he is holding presidential records which should have been turned over to them. And, most egregious of all, they have told us that they have the right to round up ordinary citizens who attended a lawful rally on J6 that was provoked into a riot. The so-called investigation is a transparent attempt to obscure what really happened and to sideline political opponents. These lies, and others regarding Ukraine.
