Both Finland and Spain have good and weak points. If one could predict how much poop is going to hit the fan one could gamble on how primitive one needs to go.

Spain is warm but proximal to Africa and what will be an endless stream of hungry people, Finland is frozen but off the beaten track and sparsely populated, and I have language skills and family here.

The question in my mind is will the situation devolve to a point where energy cannot be got at any price in which case we have mayhem in Finland too when all but the rural folk will start to get cold and hungry.

distance from Africa doesn't seem to be saving anybody from the endless stream of military aged males, most of whom don't look very hungry at all, with smart phones in hand.

Hungry people are staying where they are it seems

(that said, my town is filling with africans for olive picking season and there is no conflict at all, as they are needed and welcomed. Most of them move on to other hard work afterwards.)

Olive picking is one of the hardest jobs I ever had, and the african boys (almost all from Somalia) were strong and capable and cheerful workers, although not perfect, as indeed neither am I
