And I have an uncooked theory about it not even being just fear. It's that they prefer the illusion. Otherwise, they'd have to contend with people being bad/corrupt/evil and then they'd have to face themselves in the mirror to realize that they too are fully capable of being an evil, tyrannical Auschwitz guard. The illusion is preferable to reality to most of the people on the planet earth.
Just think about fat people. They're in denial.
Poor people. Alcoholics, drug addicts... People get paid shit because the employer is an evil capitalist scumbag, not because the employee's skills suck, their attitude sucks and they do not know how to negotiate.
Illusion > reality.
20 years of Afghanistan. War on poverty. War on drugs. It's all nonsense.
Even people who are anti-jab have a high buy-in into the illusion. They still believe in the system to a degree.
An example: Trump supporters who, due to evidence and fuckery, think the election was rigged. They cheer lawsuits etc. If it's rigged, no lawsuit is going to help them. They're living in illusions as well.
You've got it!
