The various coverings tied around the children's faces evoke the garlic bag talismans tied 'round the neck of the bewitched. They are also comparbly effective (not).

You think the lockdowns and mask rules are bad? Wait till Science—by way of Climate “Science” has its way with us. The damage we will do to the earth can’t be undone so easily. Pritzker wants to be the leader in renewables. So he will take thousands of acres of farmland out of production for energy sources that don’t work when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.

Did they fall for the mother lode of twaddle? Were they really afraid?

I watched an interview of Jay Battacharya a while back. When asked why so many in public health and medicine were behaving abnormally, he said he thought they were really afraid...almost as though it was the first time it occurred to him.

I don't think Fauci was afraid. I don't think Gates was afraid. Those thousand plus epidemiologists who penned the letter to The NY Times last summer justifying riots in the middle of the pandemic clearly weren't afraid. Gavin the vampire wasn't afraid as he ate his dinner at the French Laundry.

They weren't afraid, but they broke a lot of people. Some used the opportunity to virtue signal and lord it over others. Some went along because it was easier than fighting. There were people shot and killed over wearing/not wearing the mask in my area. It was nuts.

It was surreal to watch everything shut down. In early February, I called our son who was away at school and told him I thought his university might shut down before the semester ended. I felt like a lunatic at the time.

We really didn't know how bad it was or wasn't when the shut downs began. The scenes from Wuhan, Milan, and later NYC were alarming. It was reasonable to think it might happen everywhere, but then it didn't. Seriously, what really happened in those cities? Then, the riots started and went on for months. BLM and Antifa were burning and looting and rioting...and the media called them "mostly peaceful protestors". Midsummer the pandemic hit Texas and the Southeast and cases started to rise. The second wave. The election. January 6th. The "vaccine" rollout and the rush to inject everyone regardless of risk or need.

It may be easier to think of this past year and a half as an organic reaction to the pandemic and historic social problems. But, if you step back a bit and squint, it all seems very coordinated, especially when you recognize that this phenomenon...including some race-related protests/riots...was also seen in the UK, Canada and the Commonwealth nations, and in much of western Europe.

We've been continuously gaslighted since January 2020. Some will never recover, I'm afraid. But many of us are wide awake now, shaken from our stupor of complacency.

A Republic of the People, by the People, and for the People if we can keep it.

I believe we can, but it's going to be a long, hard fight. We took too much for granted for too long.

I had never thought of it before, but you're right: there are many similarities in the way our "public health" establishment has bespelled the public into this ridiculousness and the psychological manipulation of witch doctors.

Sounds like a Banana Republic where an exploitive government functions poorly for its citizenry while disproportionately benefitting an elite corrupt group or individual. Is the reason you can't hear me is because you have a banana in your ear? "Hey, Mr. Tally-man. Tally me bananas."

I see people daily, wearing masks, vaccinated, who I assume are only informed by the mainstream media, and when they see all over the world, except Sweden, authorities acted approximately the same, it's easy to figure they must have acted correctly. That's the terrifying part in my mind: Wear a lab coat, call youreself a scientist, and people will believe you and do what you say.

Yeadon made an interesting comment about masks: When a human sees another human with face masked, the "lizard brain" down deep in there sees a threat, and goes into hypervigilance, which, of course, over time, drives all sorts of bad outcomes. A feature, not a bug.

el gato : having experienced the performance art at a high end aerobic (swimming) indoor kids sports event in December, in a 'moderate' county in a 'moderate' state, I don't agree with either of your premises (If I got yours right)

1 - we won't roll over and agree to do this again. I might

2 - we shouldn't blame those who - *not* following science - guessed their ways to all sorts of invented regulations based on conjecture, not knowledge

1. I made a conscious decision to "go along" with the "authorities." This list: The state, local health dept, and the parks and rec center, and the hosting swimming club team. My alternative was to seek an injunction and risk delaying the meet. But I chose instead allow these high end athletes to swim without making a stink (among whom a number went to olympic swimming trials and of them, one qualified for the olympics). I did this so my kid could still swim, and as the performance art was just mildly bad, saving having to put a mask on right after swimming all out for minutes. One kid: "it was like waterboarding, sucking air through a wet mask"

2. I'm not going to do anything about it, but "forgive them, they were well meaning?" Nah. These low level officious fucks were chomping at the bit to invent rules and regs, as you wrote the other day

To deter poachers I've used camera traps, patrols, community outreach, criminal investigations and I've also hung little voodooesque stick sculptures in trees in areas I wanted to protect. I think you can guess which method proves to be the most successful

Yesterday I went to see my 87 year old father. He is a widower in assisted living. Even though we are both vaccinated, I had to wear a mask to enter the facility. I need to be able to spend time with him. This last year has been difficult for everyone, but especially on our elderly parents. It may be performative, but it is still necessary at this point.
