I remember sadly the day that the folks in the U.K. were talked out of their firearms, and then the folks in Canada, and then the folks in Australia, and each time (I worked for a large company with lots of folks from other countries) I’d ask them how they would resist if their government turned against them, and each time I received responses like “what are you, nuts? That could never happen today. Only crazy people want guns.” Yeah, like the crazy people running your government. Those folks I talked to back then are mighty silent these days. Mainly because it’s illegal for them to speak out now.

I still gots my guns. (canada) for now anyway.

In Canada you can own guns. You need to take the Canadian Firearms Safety course, pass it and then apply for a PAL (possession and acquisition license). This will allow you to own "non-restricted" guns, such as shotguns and hunting rifles. I have a PAL. I'm a hunter. If you want handguns there is another course that you have to take for restricted weapons. To get your PAL you need to apply to the RCMP (the Mounties) who do a background check on you. It takes anywhere from a month to three months to get the PAL. There is a fee for the course and the PAL.

Expand full comment

So basically you can own the guns they allow you to own if you jump through many hoops and pay a lot of money. And of course they track those that have them meticulously so that they know where to go first to disarm people.

In Canada? If it’s inside a building depends if they want the pass. Our club does PAL f rPAL no vax required.

In Australia you can own guns. The process is much the same as John Hemingway just outlined for Canada. I find comments like 'This wouldn't be happening if Australia still had their guns' a little problematic. The fact is that I would need significantly more provocation than what we currently have before I would be 'willing' to shoot another human being, who is likely only doing his/her best to survive, just like me. Sitting on my front verandah, 50km from town, brandishing my .270 doesn't do anything to further the cause & I doubt it causes anyone to take me seriously. Guns aren't the answer at this point in time. The majority of people I know own guns. If I needed a gun to feel safe then I probably still wouldn't feel safe WITH the gun.

Let me put it to you like this-in America there are more privately owned firearms (only counting legally owned ones) than ALL the militaries of ALL The countries that make up the UN COMBINED.

We are the largest fighting force on planet earth. Believe-If Americans didn’t have the firepower we do, if they had managed to disarm us prior to this covid madness, the whole world would look like the worst parts of Australia do now. They haven’t moved against us as aggressively-nor others as aggressively, because they know if they stir up the American civilian army they cannot hope to win.

Believe. Our guns keep us, and many others, safe. They’re still trying to boil the frog slowly as it were-but they can’t make the kind of clutch moves they must here to enact full tyranny because of the firepower waiting for them. If only 10% activate that is 30 million guns on the ground for patriots.

The only thing that's been holding back the fascists in the United States from doing away with our Constitutional protections is the knowledge that our society is incredibly well armed, and that legal gun owners are very law abiding.

If you look at the outsized response of our wonderful elected representatives to the Jan 6 stupidity, literally walling off the capitol and bringing in hordes of armed National Guard to "protect" them, then you will understand that the american fascists are quite aware of just how well armed the American citizenry actually is.

No need to start shooting.

What would you do if they came at you with a syringe of something that might kill your or your kids? Forced in on you if you want to keep participating in a society that you essentially pay for with your taxes? Or stopped you from going outside to gather food for your family? Or forcing you out of a job that is necessary to keep the roof over your families heads? Or held you in a locked room with no windows, no cell phone for an extended period of time with 1 meal a day and no water? Just curious.

I'm not in any way suggesting you in America give up your guns as I know how entrenched they are in your culture. However, you have to objectively agree that hundreds of thousands of people died before their time due to bullet injuries.

I lived in Quebec until I left in 1978. I was born in 1950 during the Duplessis Era. That time has been referred to as LA Grande Noirceur ( the great darkness). One of the biggest scandals in the 1950's was the Duplessis Orphans. Over 20 thousand orphans were reclassified as mentally ill. By doing this Quebec recieved additional subsidies from Ottawa because it was a higher rate than the one for orphans. This was done with the cooperation of the provincial government, the Catholic Church and the Quebec College of Physcians. It's a horrifying story but a cautionary tale. Particularly the collaboration of the College of Physicians. Fast forward to today. Do we really trust our College of Physicians any more?

A reminder though that each such case is complicated. He seems simultaneously to be a father trying to protect his child from an unnecessary and potentially dangerous medical intervention, and someone motivated to do so partially from Christian cultist beliefs rather than entirely from a rational evaluation of the data.

There are many heartbreaking types of cases in that realm.

Expand full comment

Doesn't matter his reasoning. He has or should have the right to make that decision for his child as long as it's not endangering their life which in this case it manifestly is not.

Expand full comment

Because a father believed the shots were deadly (which most of us do) and that as a responsible Christian, following God, he was supposed to protect his child, you infer from that that he was a “Christian cultist”?

If a Christian chooses to follow Christ and then does not follow Christ when calls to.... I believe people call that a hypocrite. I should know.

I remember when I derided Christians for their faith, ridiculed THEM as hypocrites and then when they proved true to what they believed was TRUTH? Finally realized if they didn’t preach Christ was the only way, THAT was the hypocrisy. If this man believes the Bible is true and is called to be a protective father, he should do what God calls him to.

I’m not prepared to defend him more because we’re all hypocrites at some level, but I don’t see your point. It seems to me he acted far more rationally than most have.

Expand full comment

I think you might have been referring to the term “apostate”? Following Christ and then denying Christ when called to make a choice? Maybe I am reading your comment wrong. If so, I apologize.

Expand full comment

Good thought. “Apostate” v “hypocrite” Possibly, i’ll have to philosophically think about it but I’m a word geek. I think “Apostate” carries a more powerful connotation with it, Even to the point of mental decision making that “hypocrite” does not. Hypocrite implies an almost unthinking or, better, default descent into an un-Christlike consciousness where the hypocrite thinks like and loved the world because they have not chosen to love God more. Apostate implies, to me at least, a deliberate decision to negate the God world view as preached by and lived by Jesus. And depicted in the morality and teachings of the Bible. And even a complete, thoughtful rejection of God. It is a totally deliberate position. On the contrary, I’m thinking hypocrisy in my context.

However, those like Trudeau, Fauci and Gates and Soros and Schwab and Biden exhibit apostasy.

I like to remind people that I do not villify people mindlessly like many on Twtr do to our side. I.e. e.g. the false attacks on Dr McCullough, Bhakdi, Malone etc. Trudeau is obvious, he doesn’t even TRY to hide his hatred. Would probably wear the badge of apostate proudly. Fauci deliberately twists facts. Biden (amongst other egregious actions) deliberately defends his son’s immoral actions and goes to church at the same time, Gates killed children in Africa with oral polio and has his hands in EVERY aspect of this plandemic as do Soros and Schwab.

People who have the guts to stand up for what is right are being criminalized and purged and humiliated and impoverished. I like your positivity but as I and others point out, this is a strategic and feigned retreat. A feigned retreat is, as I learned just yesterday from another post, is a military strategy much like a draw back or feint in boxing or fencing where you draw back or barely and deliberately present a weak side in order to lure the unsuspecting opposing force or person in.

This is not real. Do NOT believe the lie.

However, it may provide s moderate breach in some people’s psychological defenses. Let us all use the reprieve.

I give as clear examples that within the last 14 DAYS both Fauci and Bourla have stated things that sound right and sound wrong.

On the more positive front, a few EU countries and UK may be pulling back from extremist lockdowns and masking etc. but I feel their “niceties” are just another lie to draw people in.
