Just a quick perusal of Reddit or Twitter will quickly and sufficiently illustrate that these people's politics are motivated entirely by hatred of the other guy, rather than by aspiration toward a positive good.
This may have been about a virus in the early days when we were operating in the dark, but this is clearly not about a virus now. This is about control and the only science that seems to matter now and over the last several months is political science. This virus is not a threat to children and as per CDC data, we know that the flu and Pneumonia are at least two times as deadly as COVID for children and young adults. Why won’t anyone cite these statistics? None of the “journalists” the least bit curious?

illinois gov is high risk bmi, instead of masks there should be mandatory 45 minutes of airborne shuffle at 5:45 am attendance recorded and those woke nurses won't treat them for any one bmi greater than 32.....

Record levels of violent crime, while brains and wealth flee the state and he is going to lower the boom on sports, which among other incredible physical, mental and social benefits has actually kept kids from joining gangs or engaging in criminal behavior. Like Ancient Rome we are moving slowly to autocracy but our slide does seem to be picking of steam with every passing day. I love the irony of preventing young people from engaging in activities that should set or keep them on a path to a physically and mentally healthy life. one can make a lot of arguments about a lot of issues here and comparing temporal CFR is always more complex that people realize.
but the current experience CFR is the one most relevant to current policy. it represents the risk side of the cost benefit equation.
with delta dominant and experienced CFR even by age down so much, this is nothing like last year, deaths are down 90%+ etc.
