Would you say that it is a political statement for them?

Hard to say. I do not think so. I think it is just pure and utter fear.

I have to admit that the situation in Spain in March-April 2020 was awful, or at least that is/was our perception. Now, I doubt it, having watched what I have watched from the bloody mass media.

Italy was in our headlines at that time here in the US. I enjoy hearing people's experiences from all over the world in these comments. I used to travel a lot but I've only left Texas to pop into Oklahoma for a couple days in the last 2 years. I doubt my children will ever be able to travel like I did. But they might live in "interesting times"

Italy was a little bit ahead of us in time. And apparently the situation was even worse than here. I also used to travel, now I am dangerous ;) and cannot enter the US, for instance.

Anyhow, I can enjoy short trips, no special necessity to travel. I am sorry for the kids, but on the other hand the generation before mine did not travel much abroad, perhaps only the honey moon or even nothing.

I agree with you. I RARELY get into a mask conversation/argument with folks, but if I do, it always wanders off into a political statement. WTF. I even saw a bumper sticker that says BE A GOOD DEMOCRAT/SOCIALIST - WEAR A MASK. Not sure if it was sarcasm, I couldnтАЩt see the driver.
