It’s really hard to just say those things out of context. Without some structure with rules, you can’t organize. How would you know on an assembly line what needs to be checked and possibly thrown out? If everyone was free to decide what to keep and what to throw, you would not get any quality of substance and it would not pass.

There is a place for policy and moral rules agreed on. That is what contracts are for. In that instance of everyone free to pick their own idea, the freedom would be a slavery of unproductive work gaining nothing.

But that’s not the freedom we seek is it?

Expand full comment

Dis-trust ! Dis-trust ! Dis-trust !

Because of dis-trust we need rules, contracts, legal compulsions (backed by force)...

You are not born dis-trusting - dis-trust is learned...

Born into a world full of dis-trusters, you become thankful there's rules and compulsions in place of Trust, to compel 'trust'...

"Without some structure with rules, you can’t organize."

Organize what??

Everything filters down a huge funnel and what comes out is how much money has been grifted by lying asshole politicians and people who ABUSE the wealth they have regardless of how it was obtained

Every left wing neo commie bastard goes on and on about the concentration of wealth. Well there are plenty of wealthy people who do good and others that just live the best life.

Then there are the others like Soros, Bezos, Piglosi, Kerry, Biden, The Clintons and the Obamas that GRIFTED their way to easy street and are not held accountable and abuse their position every damn chance they get

Another great sign that "The Science!" narrative is slowly collapsing. Even the fully blue-pilled are seeing disturbing numbers of friends and family succumbing to all sorts of massive health issues and "sudden and unexpected" events. That sort of reality is one of the few face-slaps that can overcome the psyop war against humanity.

That's Long Covid™:

n. Any list of symptoms that either are psychological orphysiological in nature erupting from Covid itself, Covid and vaccination, or a variety of emergent diseases that coincidentally occur post Covid. If we can somehow make Covid a time travelling virus, it could also be the cause of many diseases existing backwards in time in perpetuity.

“Long Covid” and Trump are interchangeable words now, the definition being “the cause of any and all woes”.

They aren't necessarily wrong, as Trump did in fact enact Lockdowns, he signed off on Operation Warp Speed, and he too wore the mask.

Ha, yes

But they don’t hate him for any of those reasons. That would make sense.

Yeah...hating is ridiculous. I know that Trump was full of it because in interviews about the vaccine he talks out of his ass about how great it was...the same way he talked about how awesome his inauguration was. I didn't hate him though, anymore than I hate advertisers for saying "new and improved."

The way to pull off the greatest evil conspiracies in the world is to recruit everyone (who matters) to support the conspiracy. I used to think no massive conspiracy would remain a secret because "somebody" would spill the beans. It never occurred to me that if everyone (who matters) had "skin in the game," nobody would ever talk.

I've witnessed a couple of IRL exchanges with younger people that makes me wonder if sarcasm, irony, satire and the related are truly dead. The youngsters reacted in such a way it was apparent they took it all seriously and could not see the humor even when pointed out. Poe's law does not suffice.

What a bunch of greyface puritans.

Developing antennae for humor and nuances of inflected meaning (and for conmen and seducers too) requires actually having conversations with living beings, not texting words and emojis. Like learning to ride a bicycle, you gotta do it to get it.

It might even be related to (gasp) working class jobs in shitholes shovelling dirt or food or detasselling corn or any other arduous thing in temps of up to 104F.

Perhaps the humor deficit is directly related to the number of people these days who never really have to physically work for a living?

Just spitballing here. An idle thought.

Plus children's literature has become very much less imaginative and cartoons and comics these days are moral sermons instead of gloriously rude wordplay.

More than one reason, most likely, in not developing the sense of humor that comes from self-examination. However, the inane preponderances from the young adults in my extended family are still laughed at with loud, great hilarity and shouts of “you’ll learn.” Plus, to date, none of us have been cut off from contact as in the latest trend by young adults with their “psychologists”. I have hope.

Expand full comment

I can remember being laughed at by adults when I was at that young and tiresomely earnest and self-righeous stage. Now of course I'm the one laughing. It remains extremely hard to grow up. But of course the emotional state of infancy seems to be unwarrantedly extended these days.
