well, it appears that given a week or so to speak to counsel, the twitter board has come to realize that refusing to consider or allow shareholder voting on a take out offer at a large premium was not a terribly viable strategy for a public company, especially once elon, against all prediction and precedent, managed to assemble what looks like actual funding for the bid.

they have for ages rigged this game, decided what could trend and what would be suppressed, and generated an outright funhouse mirror level of distortion in the american agora making the small appear huge and the mainstream marginal.

in all seriousness, elon is an unlikely savior of speech. he’s certainly done his share of suppressing critics in the past. will it be perfect? nope. but i think it’s a huge step up from the morass in which twitter is mired today.

it’s time to step out of the shadowbans and into the light.

if he makes good on making the twitter algorithms for content promotion open source so that we can all see and verify and work on and optimize the honesty and integrity of the platform in plain view where all can see and audit it, this could really go somewhere.

restoring rectitude and fairness and freedom to the public square would be one of the great works of our time.

it’s a desperately needed counterbalance to a media-sphere seeking a monopoly of ideas through fascist lapdoggery as a rear guard war to stave off its increasingly deafening death rattles.

american media has gone from toxic to gangrenous to systemically septic. left untreated, it will pose real risk to the survival of the host.

free, fair, and open is the cure. it comprises the civilizational immune system.

censorship proves nothing save the fear and tyranny of the censor.

the solution to “wrong” speech is more speech.

the cure for idiots and zealots is to let them have their say until they reveal themselves.

no one is fit to run a truth ministry or could be trusted to do so even if they were.

every alleged problem of too much speech is magnified 100 fold by speech suppression.
