Masks are to keep you thinking about COVID. If people aren't wearing masks then everything looks essentially normal, and people won't think much about COVID, and that's not acceptable to the people who want a never ending COVID pandemic they can use.

Ding ding ding! Remember all the way back to spring 2020, when cases were falling and nobody at all was wearing masks? And that was with FAR FAR FAR fewer people with acquired immunity.

Then they brought out the masks so we were reminded to BE SCARED - SOMETHING IS WRONG! (And it's Trump's fault!)

Precisely. They're an essential piece of the COVID theatre. You see everyone masked up, and decades of movie imagery kicks in and tells your back brain that there must be a dangerous pathogen about. spot on. the way I see it, mask-clinging is symptom of the terminally comfortable and tragically bored. in the absence of actual hardship, a mask is basically a shitty participation trophy. I was accused of being flippant for saying when I see my neighbors stacked like cord wood I might get concerned. but really… who benefits from fear and panic in any real disaster? it certainly doesn’t increase your chances for survival in any case.

Expand full comment

I remember the Covidians asking how many people would have to die before skeptics like me would accept mask mandates, lockdowns, and vax mandates. My answer was always "𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺."

Flippant? Certainly, and deliberately so. Simply put, there is 𝗻𝗼 number of people dying that would get me to accept ineffective, tyrannical diktats from our supposed public servants.

What these people really seem to be asking is how many people would have to die to terrify me sufficiently that I would abandon logic and reason and start desperately begging for any thing that some politician promises will help, despite all the evidence to the contrary... just as they have done.

Again, I am afraid that the answer is "𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺."

I completely agree with your point, Silva. People don't get it. It is terrible if people die; no one wants people to die. What they do not understand is that lockdowns, masks, compulsory "vaccination", and "testing-testing-testing" are not the way to keep people from dying.

I am totally not understanding the chin mask wearers at this point. Either put it on or take it off entirely -- what message is wearing it on the chin now supposed to be sending?

The under-the-chin mask is to prevent the drooling caused by the subject's mouth hanging open, as it would otherwise.

Hopefully, each person who sees it will be mad enough to do something, and will at minimum share the video with others - and some states are cleaning up their election laws. Some think the wrong that was done needs to be righted - hard to believe that will happen.

Gotta give her credit. When she's right she's right.

Which is why I refused to wear a mask once I realized that it was nothing more than a political message with which I did not agree. Compelled speech and a violation of my conscience rights.

This thing about Covid is that it wasn't all that bad for most of society. There wasn't a material enough effect on society for people to notice it. Groceries still got delivered. The electricity stayed on. So the masks where brought in to keep it in people's minds. This was clear to anyone paying attention.

Same thing for the airplane mandate. They were desperate to force people to keep playing along.

EVERYBODY REMEMBER TO BE SCARED!

My parents both died in 2018. I am glad they left before this scam started. Living in a senior warehouse community, they would have been isolated in their apartment, I wouldn't have been allowed in, and they would have been subjected to the shots. Both having made it to their 90s, my mother would not have understood and no phone conversation would have helped. My dad wouldn't have been able to hear me over the phone and would have gone along with whatever the staff of the Senior "Dying" Community social workers and medical staff told him. I would have been excluded from their last days - and the thought of one of them dying during such times makes me accept the loss two years earlier easier to accept. I am so sorry for those who have had to navigate caring for elderly parents with unwanted interference from the CDC.

Nearly everybody is completely done with covid restrictions and is living life normally. The experts told us when that happened the country would be overrun with covid. Yet the reality is that only 2.52% of our beds are being used for covid patients.

https://protect-public.hhs.gov/pages/hospital-utilization

So during the winter everybody was stuck wearing masks, and the masks didn't prevent the winter wave from crashing over the country. Then we removed our masks for spring, and that didn't prevent numbers from cratering. Yet every 'official' keeps trying to steal a base with 'we know masks work', desperately trying to avoid admitting everything they did was worthless.

Everyone who proclaimed 'it's just a mask!' or 'the kids are resilient' were dead wrong on both fronts. I found them highly assaulting from the get-go and knew they did nothing other than terrify and cause social conformity, thus I never caved and showed my face everywhere (it wasn't that hard). The entire point was to keep the hysteria high, wreck any chance for a soothing smile between strangers and train people to blindly follow authority. Now that the masks are off, it's going to be very hard to whoop up hysteria again.

One of the best ways to tell if someone is being deceptive is to see if they fool around with measurements of obvious things. Scientists and engineers use "dimensional analysis" to know if their calculations could even possibly be right. If you take a number of inputs and expect to get cm as output, and instead you get cm/sec, you don't even have to bother seeing what the number is; you have an error in how you set up your equations.

The liars telling everyone that "a mask is a minor inconvenience" were leaving out the time dimension. Maybe wearing a mask for a minute is a minor inconvenience; an hour is already more serious, and a day is a real imposition. A month of wearing a mask most of the time is close to unbearable, and when the time limit is open-ended, it is clearly a form of torture.

Bottom line: Only I will decide what constitutes a "minor inconvenience" for me.

Back in the very beginning of the big scare when The Eff Word was telling the public not to mask I thought he was lying and that they were needed, but that they were in short supply and the supply should go to the front line workers. So I looked it up mask studies. One of which was done in Japan and another in the US. The studies were easy to find and came up on the first page of the search. I think I used Google. They helped me get over being mad that I could not get a mask. Later when they the masks were being required and there was serious shaming going on I got online to find those studies and couldn't find them. Then it occurred to me - times being what they are - that they could be removed or hidden. They were hidden. I had to do a date range for only studies done before 2019. Then I had to do some wading around to find them.

They always knew. But they needed you to fall in line and lose any fealty for your fellow man so when they said "get em!" they would be willing attack dogs. Theeeyyy were not the attackers. The mandaters. Your fellow man is. Government just provides guidance.

That is a really good round-up. I read another substack I think his name is Mark McDonald? - he is a phychiatrist. He talked about how it is child abuse to continue to mask children and that people who do it are child abusers. It struck a chord with me. It lakes courage to talk to kids about the mask with their parent in tow. I think eventually someone might smack me. I am always polite as possible and calm. So far I have chatted with three kids. They kept their mask on all after looking up at their moms. Their moms were not very pleased with me. But would she keep silent if she saw a child being abused?

Expand full comment

Agree, it is terrifying to see and I think it is child abuse too, but good for you for pressing. I don't interact with that many kids but next time I do--and I'm in CA so you know there are still plenty of masked ones--I'll try to remember your inspiration. For a while I had an essential worker job outdoors and would get all goofy with them, like, why're you wearing a mask outside??? That's nutty! We have such great fresh air! Some kids agreed, some just hung onto the parent!
